If your ears are still ringing from the bass from Labor Day Weekend maybe you should treat yourself to a little classical music this week. The arts season is just starting to warm up and these are two great shows that help you transition from party mode into culture mode

Sunday Afternoons of Music (on Saturday night)

The Pacifica String Quartet, a Grammy-winning Vermont foursome (two violins, viola and cello), performs works by Schumann, Shostakovich and Beethoven. Presented by Sunday Afternoons of Music (yes, the show is Saturday night, but hey).

SoBe Arts Celebrates Chopin’s 200th
Celebrate the life of Frederick Chopin with a magical evening of great music, food and drink to help  underprivileged children develop their talents. Internationally renowned concert pianist and SoBe Arts faculty member  Robert Chumley will perform Nocturnes, Polonaises, Preludes, Ballades and other masterpieces by Chopin and SoBe Arts scholarship student Angel Perez will perform as well.

Sunday, September 12 at 5p.m. at the Steinway Gallery, 4101 Ponce de Leon, Coral Gables;305-674-9220. Tickets are $50.
