Just off the heels of an MLB All-Star Week frenzy, Miami’s melting pot population is ready to get back to their soccer craze leading up to the International Champions Cup El Clásico Miami at Hard Rock Stadium. The match pits inner country rivals FC Barcelona against Real Madrid C.F. But what kind of event would it be (in Miami especially) without a week of events and parties leading up to the big day. Here’s a guide to what’s going on around the city:
1. Paris Saint-Germain vs. Juventus
If it’s just too long to wait for the big match on Saturday, grab tickets to the Paris Saint- Germain vs. Juventus match at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Hard Rock Stadium. Grammy winner Cee Lo Green will belt out the National Anthem and Miami’s own rapper Flo Rida will bring the house down at the Halftime show.
Can’t get tickets to the match? Head to the beach for the Watch Party at W South Beach followed by an after party at Wall Lounge where Flo Rida hits the stage once again. The parties might end up costing you as much or more than a ticket but you’ll be poolside and have a chance to win cool giveaway and meet celebs.
Watch party at W South Beach, 2201 Collins Ave, Miami Beach
2. Paris Saint-Germain vs. Juventus After Party
Celebrate or lament the results of the match at WALL with a special performance by Flo Rida.
11 p.m. Wednesday, July 26 at Wall, 2201 Collins Ave., Miami Beach
3. Combate Clásico
Like watching two fighters pummel each other with what seem to be no rules of any kind? No, that’s not the official definition of Mixed Martial Arts (or MMA) but it sure seems like a good fit. Usually a venue for art and fashion events, Mana Wynwood is hosting Combate Clásico a live television event, a 10-bout affair pitting rival players Tommy Aaron and Javier Fuentes in the key match-up. It kicks off at 7 p.m.
Combate Clásico, 7 p.m. Thursday at Mana Wynwood, 318 NW 23rd St, Miami
4. El Clásico Miami Launch Party
The party officially starts at the El Clásico Miami Launch Party with headliner Lil Wayne.
11 p.m. Thursday, July 27 at Ora, 2000 Collins Ave., Miami Beach
5. Casa Clásico Fan Fest
Casa Clásico FanFest opens at Bayfront Park for a two-day run. The free event, presented by La Liga, is the perfect opportunity to see current and former players from both FC Barcelona and Real Madrid C.F. You can also sip a few beers at the Heineken beer garden, participate in games and perhaps go home with a giveaway.
Questlove performs on Friday at 6:45 p.m. and reggaeton duo Alexis y Fido take the stage on Saturday. If you’ve got VIP tickets, they’ll also have portraits of soccer stars Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Sergio Ramos and Neymar on display during the Fan Fest.
6. El Clásico Miami Pre-Party
Ok, so this is the party to celebrate the day before the Clásico Miami actually starts. The guest performer is TBA.
11 p.m. Friday, July 28 at Story Miami, 136 Collins Ave., Miami Beach
7. Real Madrid CF vs. FC Barcelona
Finally, the big day for the rival match between Barcelona and Madrid at Hard Rock Stadium at 7:30 p.m. Watch the greats, like Messi and Neymar, run up and down the field defending, kicking and head bumping their way to the final seconds, and victory over the opposing team. Latin superstar Prince Royce opens up the match performing the National Anthem while Grammy-winner Marc Anthony will be the highlight of the halftime show.
But if all this is just too much for you, of course they’re having a watch party at CityPlace in Doral starting at 5 p.m. Personalities from ESPN Deportes 990 AM, Actualidad Radio 1040 AM and Exitos 107.1 FM will all host, entertain and comment and give away a soccer jersey during halftime. And you can’t watch the game without a cocktail, which you can buy at the Pop-Up Bar.
CityPlace Doral Watch party is at 5 p.m. Saturday at 8300 NW 36th St., Doral.
8. Official El Clásico Miami After Party
Major key alert! You can celebrate the win or lament the loss at the Official El Clásico Miami After Party Presented by Beats by Dr. Dre with special guest DJ Khaled at Rockwell Miami.
