No, sorry, folks, Jennifer Lopez was not in Kendall in Thursday.
Her boyfriend was, though.
Alex Rodriguez, all suited up, arrived to the UFC Kendall gym with his two daughters Natasha and Ella and mom Lourdes to talk to VIPs, press and gym members about the recently opened fitness center. (Lopez was in NYC working, in case you were wondering, but the two recently celebrated their birthdays in SoBe.)
The enormous, two level gym, with TV sets everywhere playing reels of Rodriguez’s hottest homeruns, has spanking new equipment with a focus on mixed martial arts (the octagon is awesome). There are various classes for all ages — kickboxing, boxing conditioning, and Brazilian jiu jitsu.
Downstairs, there is a kids club, a lifestyle shop and a cafe called The Arm Bar where you can order reasonably priced healthy bites as well as smoothies — try the ARod Fit with whey protein, coconut and water.
“I’m glad I’m getting to do stuff in Kendall, around where I grew up,” said Rodriguez, who has a chain of gyms in Mexico. “And this place is great, you don’t have to even be into UFC stuff. Just look at it!”
What else is special to him about this place?
“Where else can you work out with your kids?” added the athlete turned Fox broadcaster of the facility which offers a ton of classes for burgeoning athletes. “There’s something for everyone at every level, and it’s open 24 hours a day.”
Rodriguez is reportedly looking to open more UFC branded gyms in the South Florida area.
