7 signs that it's time to go to the Home Design & Remodeling Show

The Home Design & Remodeling Show is one of those places that homeowners go to get some inspiration when it comes to planning out home improvement projects. Since many of us don’t have time to think about tile trends and pool filtration technology, we need the experts at the Home Show to break it down. Here are seven ways to know that you need to make a pilgrimage to the Home Show post haste.

1. You are going to have visitors this summer

And your house looks drab. Viviana Galetto-Malave of VGM Décorators, Inc., Renan Rodriguez of RozuDesign Solutions, Syllis Cawker and José Pinto of SySy Interiors and Roberta Black of RB Designs, are on hand all weekend to answer questions at their stylish staged rooms so you can figure out how to give your house some zazz.

2. Your neighbors are giving your yard the side eye

They are judging your dying ficus and worried that your weeds will spread to their pristine, emerald lawn. Let Sara Bendrick of DIY Network’s “I Hate My Yard,” expert in small and large landscape projects, show you how it’s done at her seminars How to Plan for Outdoor Living and When to DIY or Hire a Contractor. They take place at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Sunday and Monday.

3. Your walls are bare

So you don’t have Art Basel money. That doesn’t mean you can’t have some conversation pieces hanging on your wall. Check out works by 15 established South Florida artists who present a curated exhibit of paintings, photography and sculpture in the “At Home with Art” feature area.

4. Your kitchen game is weak

We can all agree that cooking is the worst. But we have to eat, so maybe one of the food seminars will get you out of that culinary funk. The seminars will take place all weekend.

5. You and your partner can’t agree on anything

And your house still needs new windows/cabinets/floors, etc. Maybe one of the vendors will have the right mix of practical home improvement knowledge and therapy skills.

6. You are in over your head

Those DIY shows make everything look so easy. But if you ran into some important-looking pipes while knocking down a wall you may want to talk to an expert. Also, Jason Cameron of DIY Networks’ Desperate Landscapes and Man Caves will host How to Turn Home Renovation Dreams into Reality at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturday. Maybe he can show you what you are doing wrong.

7. You love gadgets

The Home Show always boasts the newest latest in tools, kitchen doodads and energy efficient appliances. You can stock up on all the coolest things to make your home a palace. Then come home and put them in the junk drawer.
