5 events in Miami for connoisseurs of scotch, cigars, meat and bikinis

Meat and Cheesecake

Because nothing says steakhouse like a bathing suit show, STK Miami Beach, 2305 Collins Ave., has started Summer Series during Magnum Mondays, a weekly dinner party featuring local Miami swimwear brands creating pop-up shops in the “vibe-driven steakhouse.” Pop ups will be available for browsing and shopping from 7:30-8:30 p.m. with light noshes and select cocktails served to those who RSVP. Festivities continue after the bathing suits are packed up with the regular Monday dinner party featuring DJs, entertainment and specials on magnums of Veuve. To reserve a table, call 305-604-6988.

Bar Thentro

If your summer hasn’t taken you to Ibiza or Barcelona this summer, fret not. The SLS South Beach’s Bar Centro, 1701 Collins Ave., is bringing “Barcelona Beats & Bites” to Miami from 9:30 p.m. on every other Wednesday night beginning June 20. Imbibe offerings from a roaming caipirinha cart featuring the restaurant’s acclaimed liquid nitrogen caipirinhas. There will also be Padron Cigars and tapas by Jose Andres. Live music by Itawe Correa of Locos Por Juana will be unplugged and feature a rotation of surprise special guests. Atlantic Rum will also have a master rum expert on site to “heighten the experience with some educational tastings.” There’s no cover, no airfare needed, but an ironic adoption of the Catalan accent would be amusing.

Rec’ing Havoc

Sometimes you just have to go underground to cool off, which makes Rec Room, 1690 Collins Ave., an ideal spot in which to burrow, especially during the month of July, when some of the best DJs hit the decks. Starting Friday, July 15, one of Miami’s best, Anthony Pisano, takes over the decks, followed by Style.com’s “Best DJ Rocking the Fashion World,” Speakerfoxx, spinning Saturday, July 16. For those who plan ahead, on Saturday, July 23, it’s DJ Karma, “playing his genre-defying, epic sets for a night to remember,” and, closing out the month on Friday, July 29, is LA native KITTENS. All shows are free and open to the public. Doors open at 11 p.m. For more information, go to RecRoomies.com.

Rye Not?

Things will be smoking from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, July 16, up on the Rooftop at E11EVEN Miami, 29 NE 11th St., for A Night of Scotch & Cigars. A $50 advanced ticket will get you a tasting of five rare Laphroaig Scotch Whiskies, including the Cairdeas 2015 200th Anniversary blend, paired with Aging Room Cigars’ La Boheme Encantador. For those who aren’t connoisseurs of cigars or Scotch, it doesn’t matter. You’ll look good sniffing, sifting and smoking, regardless. The Restaurant at E11EVEN will provide hors d’oeuvres. Free Swim

Swim Week is happening and it’s really for buyers and fashion biz types, but because it’s in Miami, it’s a lycra-coated see and be seen fest of pretty much everyone who happens to be in town. And while not all Swim Week events are open to the gawking public, there is one from 5-8 p.m. at the Delano South Beach’s Orchard space, 1685 Collins Ave., Miami Beach. NOBE67’s launch event for its three-day Swim Week pop-up features “a variety of curated swim and resort wear from over 20 designers not readily available elsewhere,” and will be hosted by model Daniela Botero. There will be a cash bar and unofficial after party at the Rose Bar. The event, while not technically an “official” Swim Week sanctioned one, is free and open to the public. The pop up will be there from July 15 through 17.
