Following the opening of Sette Osteria, Wynwood’s getting another Italian restaurant in October. Dōma, which means ‘home’ in Latin, will open at 35 NE 26th St on Oct. 12, where it will serve Southern Italian fare.
Co-owner Luca Lomonaco, who will also serve as the restaurant’s master sommelier, hails from 3-star Michelin restaurant Quince in San Francisco and Miami’s La Petite Maison where he served as sommelier. The centerpiece of the restaurant will be its built-in wine cellar showcasing up to 800 bottles.
“We are excited to be opening our first restaurant in Wynwood where Chef Vincenzo Salvatore and I will bring our culinary experiences from around the world to the neighborhood for locals and tourists to enjoy,” Lomonoco says. “There is great energy in the area and we are excited to invite the community in to our restaurant to see the love we put into every dish. We want people to walk in and feel like they are family. ”
The menu emphasizes seafood, but is also has – wait for it – fried pizza! Other specialties include grilled Mediterranean octopus with capers, Taggiasca olive and tomato; Mediterranean beef tartar with goat cheese foam and fresh basil emulsion; and tagliolini burrata with local red shrimp lemon and sea bean.
“At Dōma, we pride ourselves on creating dishes that reflect our culture and flavor with an emphasis on taste and quality,” says Salvatore, who has worked in the kitchens of several Michelin-starred restaurants around the world including Capri Palace in Naples and Torre Del Saracino on the Amalfi Coast. “We hope guests will see it as a culinary destination in Wynwood.”
