When word got out that Lincoln Road’s longest running cafe-slash-cocktail canteen Segafredo was closing, nostalgia took over with people reminiscing of their days and nights lounging leisurely on a very different Lincoln Road.
Much to everyone’s relief, what’s old is new again, as Segafredo merely closed for a quick cosmetic procedure and, unlike your colleagues who take nip/tuck vacations from work, the down time was negligible.
The new and improved Segafredo is ready for its close up, though the changes are merely cosmetic.
“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” says rep Tara Gilani, who added the the touch-up is “a tribute to the good old days (and nights) when South Beach was the hottest, friendliest, happiest place on the planet. Days and nights when casual-chic ruled, when customers came first, when the music moved you, when good food was well priced and delicious and when custom made cocktails transported you to another time and place.”
So what’s new, exactly? A new interior, new exterior furniture, new staff, new attitude, new outfits, and a new food menu of flatbread pizzas, signature panini, crudite and even quinoa salad.
The newest? A cocktail menu created by master mixer and renowned “Tiki Maestro,” Daniele Dalla Pola, whose tiki chic-y influence is seen in drinks like the Nu Halekulani – bourbon, black cherry Re’al, lemon, orange, pineapple juice and Angostura bitters. Or try the Miami Sling Punch with London N1 Gin, Cherry Heering, Alamea Peach brandy, ginger Re’al, lime, pineapple juice and Angostura bitters.
The rest is pretty much the same. And for that, we are very thankful. And so is Segafredo, which is giving residents of the 33139 or 33140 a free VIP cocktail from their “Italians Do It Bitter” list. Just flash your ID when you’re there and drink up. The offer stands until Oct. 30, so you have time to get Road ready. But, like Segafredo, don’t take too long. They’re waiting for you.
