This Christmas themed pop-up bar in Wynwood will be lit

Drinking in the season at Miracle in MiamiMiracle

Halloween was hardly over when Christmas season was forced down our throats. Thankfully Miracle In Miami, a Christmas-themed pop-up bar coming to Wynwood, has the decency to wait until Friday, Nov. 23 to open for the season.

The NYC import will take up temporary residence in the backroom at Gramps, 176 NW 24th St., launching on behalf of DRINK Miami and promising to keep everyone in very festive spirits through December 23.

Miracle In Miami is exactly what you’d imagine it to be – a cross between the old school Rudolph special and “A Christmas Story,” with staff decked out in themed costumes, halls decked out in garlands, tinsel and all sorts of Christmas tchotchkes. Obviously there will be holiday tunes on high all night long.  There is no dress code, but this is the kind of place that to stop by for a drink en route to that Ugly Sweater party.

Inspired by Cocktail Kingdom’s Greg Boehm’s original popup that debuted in the East Village in 2014, Miracle In Miami will spike your nog and then some.

“We’re stoked to finally introduce Miami to this awesome holiday themed pop up bar,” says Gio Gutierrez, DRINK Miami co-founder. “The backroom at Gramps is where cocktail connoisseurs, Christmas lovers and tinsel enthusiasts will congregate all season.”

Cocktails include the Gingerbread Flip (bourbon, gingerbread syrup, elemakule tiki bitters, whole egg, and gingersnap cookie crumbs). Then there’s the Christmas Carol Barrel with rum, aquavit, amaro, pumpkin pie, lemon, orange, and bitters. Of course, the aforementioned nog, The Jingle Balls Nog, with brown butter fat-washed cognac (!), sherry, almond milk, cream, sugar, egg and nutmeg is the one to drink when you are not counting calories. Mugs will be equally festive and, of course, for sale. J Wakefield Brewing has even created a custom gingerbread-inspired imperial stout, Wicked Winter Brew.

Events at the pop-up include the requisite Tacky Christmas Sweater Contest, holiday movies, Xmas karaoke, mistletoe phone booth, caroling performances, live music and more.
