Need a ride to and from the polls?

If you don’t feel like using Uber or Lyft, and want to drive yourself there,  Zipcar car-sharing network has a deal for Election Day.

As part of its #DRIVEtheVOTE initiative and to give voters a way
to get to and from voting stations, Zipcar will have its fleet prepped and ready for on-demand reservations.

Any member who reserves a car in the South Florida between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Election Night will receive $20 in driving credit toward a future reservation.

This is how you do it: Log on to zipcar.com and apply online. Book by the hour or day. To unlock your vehicle, tap your Zipcard to the card reader on the windshield. To return it, park it back in its dedicated spot, then lock up with your card. It’s kind of a Lime Bike but with four wheels (and a lot more heavy machinery).

Zipcars are located at a  number of Metrorail stations, from South Beach to West Palm Beach.

Reservations start at $7.50 an hour and $69 a day, including the cost of gas, maintenance, insurance and 180 miles of driving.

An estimated 15 million people didn’t vote in the 2016 election because they didn’t have transportation to the polls, according to The Center for Information and Research on Civic Learning and Engagement.

Be sure to tag #DRIVEtheVOTE if you post a selfie in your ride.

“We’re hoping the extra credit encourages more Zipsters to get involved on election night, especially those who need last-minute access to a car,”says a release.

The company says it’s also preparing its fleet for increased reservations on “to help reduce any transportation barriers.”
