The Oscar’s may be taking place on Sunday, but this Friday plenty of Miami A-listers and fashionistas will be debuting their swankiest red carpet ensembles for the New World Symphony Gala. The gala’s theme this year is Alfred Hitchcock and it takes place at The New World Center. Though, the $1,250 tickets are sold out, there are still tables available and plenty of $150 tickets for the Big Band Swing after party. We chatted up Miami’s elite to find out what to wear and what they are donning on the big night.
Who: Sarah Arison
Title: President of the Arison Arts Foundation; Senior Manager at Lividini and Co. in NYC
Outfit: Thakoon Georgette Ivory gown with sheer panels, Giuseppe Zanotti Heel-less Platform d'Orsay Pump, Carlos Falchi gold snakeskin clutch and vintage gold jewelry.
Why: “The Hitchcock theme is so fun and unique, I really wanted to embrace the old-Hollywood feeling, but with modern elements. I love my dress because it is a classic Ivory color, and a very simple cut, but the sheer panels add a modern and sexy element. The gold accessories add glamour, and the Zanotti heel-less pumps really bring the look into the 21st century."
Best Fashion Advice for Gala Dressing: “Always wear something comfortable that doesn't need to be constantly adjusted and accessories are key- you can take the most simple dress and make it amazing.”
Who: Louis Aguirre
Title: Deco Drive Co Host
Outfit: Ermenegildo Zegna tux, shirt and tie. Hugo Boss shoes.
Why: Zenga is synonymous with timeless elegance and classic sophistication. I wanted to rock a look that would represent that timeless Hollywood leading man elegance.
Best Fashion Advice for Gala Dressing: “Go big and go glam. This will be the social event of the year and a chance for every guest to feel like a movie star.”
Who: Anne Owen
Title: Publisher of Miami magazine
Outfit: “I'm still trying to finalize my outfit, however, I am planning to hit up The Webster to see what they've got.” I've got some key pieces that I want to work in. I just bought a new necklace from local jewelry designer Nektar De Stagni as well as a brand new cuff from Citrine By the Stones. I also recently bought a new pair of Camilla Skovgaard sky-high platforms that add a good 6 inches to my hight--not practical, but definitely conversation starters.
Best Fashion Advice for Gala Dressing: “With the theme this year, it's all about mystery and suspense. I feel that this is one gala where one can be a bit more playful and a tad more avante-garde than your usual black-tie affair.”
