Miami is to me...
Miami is my sanctuary. I've lived and worked all over the US, Europe, and Latin America. Miami is the best city in the USA and one of the best cities in the world to live, work, and play. I love the people, the architecture, the food... I love it all!

Posted on Sun, 11.13.2011 @ 09:26"Farm Gate-to-Plate Philosophy with An Amazing View" First of all, any place that is rooftop dining automatically gets 2 stars. So add a live jazz piano player and floor-to-ceiling windows that frame colorful views of downtown? You create a romantic charm that bumps it up to 3. Norman Van Aken pairs his allegiance to fresh local ingredients (Gabriele Marewski of Paradise Farms is a partner) with an all-star team of sous-chefs: Travis Starwalt (Sugarcane) and Jeffrey Brana (Restaurant Brana). The Food: There is a little Peruvian influence going on here, some Caribbean, and a touch of Asian throughout. Start with the Shrimp and Octopus Ceviche topped with popcorn. It has a nice little kick to it. Main dishes: The Chicken Mofongo was superlative as was the Black Grouper with Salsa Rosa and Serrano Ham. The Wine: You MUST try the "Domaine du Salvard Sauvignon Blanc Unique" Oo la-la! Desserts: Try the Coconut Flan (Light and not too sweet.) and The Warm Chocolate Bread Pudding were the best things on the dessert menu. Mmm... How do say "sinful" in French? The verdict: The food and service would rate 4 Stars even if you took away the views and decor. Expensive but well worth it for those special occasions. Such as impressing that date you are trying to seduce. ;-}... Read moreCharlotte Bistro
Posted on Sun, 09.19.2010 @ 09:38It seems little has changed about this place from the original review. There were 4 of us for dinner and 3 out of 4 dishes were a major disappointment. (All of them seafood) What Worked: The service was friendly and attentive even though they seemed somewhat overwhelmed. Wine: 2009 Nessa Albarino (Spain) The "Chocolate Soup" is absolutely exquisite and to die for. What Didn’t Work: Seating packed in like Sardines and the noise level was so loud you couldn't hold a conversation without leaning across the table. They are still cooking the Lobster until it's chewy. This was first time in my life that I've had to SAW ravioli in order to cut it. I cannot recommend this place and I don't think I will be going back any time soon.... Read moreOrigin Asian Bistro & Sushi
Posted on Tue, 12.08.2009 @ 12:43This is the place for Pan-Asian! I highly recommend the pan roasted salmon as it is always fresh and cooked to perfection, served over a bed of warm spinach salad, with shiitake mushrooms, a balsamic dressing, and chopped mango. This is my "go-to" place for when I have people visiting from out of town, or if I want to go out for a bite without getting dressed up. It's a great local restaurant where the service and the food are consistently good.... Read moreBlue Martini- Brickell
Posted on Sat, 11.28.2009 @ 19:20This is an ok place to relax and unwind after work whether you are on Brickell or just heading home that way. This place is more for professionals in their 30's & 40's than for the twenty something crowd. Words of advice: Stick to "Happy Hour" as it gets very expensive later in the evening and the service leaves something to be desired.... Read moreAzul at the Mandarin Oriental
Posted on Sat, 11.28.2009 @ 13:15Azul's cuisine leaves nothing to be desired and they boast one of the city's best wine lists and a breathtaking view of Biscayne Bay. Azul's location and ambiance truly make it stand out from the pack. This is one of the best places in Miami to really impress a date or surprise your partner. Among the standout dishes: Moroccan-inspired lamb and a miso-marinated duck breast. It may be expensive but it's well worth it on those very special occasions. ... Posted on Fri, 11.27.2009 @ 19:09This is a great place to sit outside by the river and enjoy the cool breezes, especially during the winter months. The service is quick and the food is always fresh. The prices are very reasonable. What more can you ask for?... Read moreBugatti Restaurant
Posted on Fri, 11.27.2009 @ 09:26If you want "real" Italian food then Bugatti is as close as you can get without jetting off to Rome. The Caesar salad dressing is done the right way with anchovies and the freshly made pasta definitely makes a difference. Some of the dishes you should be sure to try: Tagliatelli with hearty--but not heavy--Bolognese sauce is just one example of the robust and delicious cuisine. If you go on the first Wednesday of the month be prepared to wait as their lasagna is well known and loved. My personal favorite is the ravioli filled with mushrooms and ham in a cream sauce. If you’re looking for good Italian food then you have to try this place but fair warning... the wait staff can be just as difficult as their counter parts in Italy. All in all, it's worth the wait and any attitude you might get. ... Read moreRosa Mexicano - Mary Brickell Village
Posted on Wed, 11.25.2009 @ 10:37If you're not a fan of Mexican food you will be after eating here. This is upscale Mexican. The frozen pomegranate margaritas have a nice kick and the beautiful decor with a 15-feet tall blue waterfall and a great bar are major assets, as is the judicious use of spices and tableside guacamole preparation. The only thing missing are live guitars and Flamenco dancers. ... Read moreAndu
Posted on Tue, 11.24.2009 @ 14:02I have had the pleasure to dine here on a few occasions and I must say that both the service and the food were outstanding. Everything is prepared well and delightfully flavorful. The wine list seemed to be carefully selected, and offered good pairings for the meals. Overall, the prices are very reasonable. If you are looking for a balance of very good food, attentive service, in a comfortable atmosphere at reasonable prices, then this is the place for you.... Read more
