Royal Bavarian Schnitzel Haus & Pils Bar
Posted on Thu, 09.25.2008 @ 15:30I wrote a review before but it seems to have disappeared. If you like German food this is the place to go. If you don't like German food - there are still plenty of excellent items on the menu. I highly recommend the Schnitzel Munich (I order this nearly every time I go - because I love it so much. However - I an my guests have never found fault or complaint with anything on the menu. The prices are very reasonable.... Read more
Posted on Sun, 06.29.2008 @ 19:04The Schnitzel House checks all the blocks of why I go out to eat. Good food and service - without frustration. If you like German food - this is the place to go in Miami. If you don't like German food or are unsure - I still highly recommend Schnitzel House. Everyone I have brought here (German food lovers and not) thoroughly enjoyed their dinner, and multiple visits the norm. Intimate and quiet, this is a real restaurant you can share with good friends and family - not a scene or hotspot. Delightfull yes, trendy it is not and you will not find the latest diet fad here either, just good wholesome food served in a friendly atmosphere. Getting a table is rarely a problem. (Which if I digress has to do with the easy to miss location & sign than any other factor.) and the recent expansion of the Beer Garden is even more delightful. Alex the chef/owner can sure do some fine ribs and chicken summer BBQ too! My favorite hands down is the Schnitzel Munich, but the Sourbratten, Pretzel Chicken (frequent special) and a not so short list fall close behind - I could go on. The mashed potatoes are - not to be missed. Service is truly "old world" genuine and friendly. You and your guests will feel immediately at home - and appreciated. Prices are very reasonable - especially by Miami standards. The Schnitzel House is where I bring my closest friends and unflinchingly recommend. ... Read more

Posted on Tue, 06.03.2008 @ 14:44Dining here is an "experience" the format of wine flights is unique as is the menu. A huge selection of wines by the glass. We each ordered our own wine flight, my table mate started with the bubbly flight, I had the Cabernet. Intimate and romantic atmosphere, a great place to bring someone you love / love sharing with.... Read moreMichael's Genuine Food & Drink
Posted on Mon, 04.14.2008 @ 14:04We went to Michaels Genuine as a group of six on a busy night – I hope our experience was unusual. Right away the tone was set when the hostess acted annoyed that we showed up five minutes early for our reservation – somehow we were putting her out. After 15 minutes we were seated at a table right at the entrance – which was too large for the space and in the middle of the flow of traffic, meaning everyone bumped our chairs as they filed past, staff and patron alike. The food was excellent – everyone at the table, everyone was quite satisfied with the taste. Certainly the menu was not run of the mill – the combinations and the ingredients were un-usual, but absolutely perfect. I found the prices atypical and quite reasonable – about $50/person with a glass of wine each. Im not a fan of loud restaurants – but if you like them loud and having to yell your “conversation” and order to the wait staff, this is the place for you. The service mirrored our initial experience – one grade above dismal. The waiter was absent most of the time and accounted for a lingering dinner. The wait for everything from a cocktail to the check was unusually long. At least three ordered drinks never made it to the table (luckily they didn’t show up on the check). When the appetizers and entrées were delivered they were correct, just that the waiter and the staff had no idea which one us was to receive which dish – normally something that can be overlooked, if it wasn’t the case with EVERY dish and cocktail, not to mention the logistics of yelling over the “cheerful din” – hey that’s mine!!! The bus staff had the unusual habit of selecting specific items they wanted to remove from the table – while ignoring other items that clearly were finished. Finally to insult to injury – our mostly absent waiter pointed out as he delivered the check the restaurant policy of adding an automatic 20 percent gratuity to tables of six or more. The lesson being; keep your table to five or less if you want good service – though I wouldn’t hold my breath. After a long wait, we finally resorted to having the busboy locate the waiter to process our check – about 3 past the last straw in my book. The food truly is great – the experience is not. Our experience may have been unusual – and its clearly a popular restaurant. I have no plans to return, but am keeping an open mind that its possible to fix the service problems. Plus: Food preparation and ingenuity, wine list, décor Neutral: Price Minus: Noise, Service ... Read more
