Sweet sampling: A local cupcake tasting
Posted on Tue, 07.22.2008 @ 13:01I have tried many of the ones listed on the article, but must say they're really not at all that impressive. Buttercream's is greasy and Misha's are never consistent--everything she makes has chocolate (how could you call a white cake, with white chocolate chips, vanilla?). I recommend Sugar Girl Bakeshop and Wish Upon A Cupcake for both delicious cakes and great decor/presentation. * * * Response to Siddarthur * * * In response to your question: yes, I have ordered and/or sampled from the ones who do not have stores. I'm a frequent visitor to a website called Cupcakes Take The Cake (www.cupcakestakethecake.blogspot.com) and they have a list of cupcake bakeries/mail order/catering, etc. throughout the US as well as abroad. BTW, while I'm at it, here are a few more: The Cupcake Bistro, Cheeky Cupcakes (Aventura), and Sweet Annie's Baked Goods (delicious little pies and cupcakes!). I simply stated something that has was mind-boggling to me: a white chocolate chip cupcake with white chocolate frosting sold as a vanilla cupcake?! C'mon folks! LOL Ironically, the only cupcake shop owner I know is Colleen Bell from Sticky Fingers (inside Amate Tea Lounge)--and she's closed shop and moved to Georgia! I didn't have to go to the tasting to sample anything: I had already done it all on my own. It's a shame that when we want to share other great finds (that were missed by the events organizers) we're quickly labeled as biased. :( ... Read more
