Miami is to me...

A traveller of life, love, and inner happiness. A native South Floridian (rare, I know). A lovechild of both a professional cultural anthropologist who likes to do urban exploring, and an eclectic musicologist who dances to the beat of his own drum, as well as the bass of a nightclub. This lovechild goes by the names of Me, Myself, or I. His parents are wordsmiths in their spare time.

  • Sawgrass Mills Survival Guide

For 2 horrible years had the displeasure of working at the Starbucks across from the Rainforest Cafe, so I can relate to this article so much. It's like they dropped all the tourist from MIA and Fort Lauderdale Int'l Airport & dumped them in the mall, haha. The writer knows exactly what she's talking about. Great article, Lisset! I'm going to let everyone on a secret, so here it goes: For the best parking spot, 90% of the time (no matter what time you get to the mall) will be in the area between VF (Vanity Fair Factory) and The Oasis, but furthest away from The Oasis. There'll be an emergency exit door close to there near the trash compactor in between the trees. This is the best place to enter. It's used by mall employees & is supposed to be an "emergency exit" door, but you can still use it & it'll take you straight to The Colonnades. The only time this won't be a good place to park is during winter around Christmas, where, like everywhere else in Sawgrass, it's almost impossible to find parking at all, & you'll have to resort to parking against along swales and patches of lawn along Sawgrass Circle (don't worry, Sunrise police won't ticket you during winter season because it's hard to enforce when everyone other car is parked along there.) Hope this is helpful for everyone, tourists and SoFla locals alike. P.S. Tourists if you can read this, please do a big favor for all the food services at the mall: pick up after yourselves (unless at a restaurant) & please leave a decent tip to your waiter. ALSO, when you go to a coffee shop (Starbucks, Gloria Jean's, etc.), be sure to tip AT LEAST some kind of currency to those poor baristas. They're hard-working people who have to deal with lines out the door, as well as drinks lined up seemingly in the same manner. That's my two cents, so to speak.... Read more
  • Can't stand her! That episode where she said women shouldn't be in politics pretty much gave me a greater dislike for her, much like the other unintelligent Jessica Simpsons & Paris Hiltons of the world who are reinforcing the stereotypes women rights have fought to distance themselves from....
