It may still be a little chilly outside, but that's no reason to avoid the Magic City. Turn up the heat this weekend by heading out to any of these events that cater to the Miami's black and Caribbean communities.
Wednesday March 6
Naughty by Nature will be performing some of their biggest hits, like O.P.P and Hip Hop Hooray, live at LIV Night club on Miami Beach. Jamming on the ones and twos will be DJ Ruen and Jessica Who. The Wednesday night party is known for their mix of Pop, Rap and House music.

Thursday March 7
Shawn and Marlon Wayans bring their comedy tour to Miami. The members of the first family of comedy will hit the Miami Improv stage starting March 7-10th. The two brothers have been selling out shows all around the country telling jokes about their personal life family and even children. Tweets from the audience of past shows inform me that you must come ready to laugh hard.

Friday March 8
SpeakFridays is a place that provides a platform for self expression, diversity and communication through the arts. Come watch House poet and rapper Shaun Bake as he performs live with the Third Party Band. Every Friday you can enjoy spoken word, a live band and reggae and soul artists at the Inner Look lounge.
Cost: Ladies free before 9:30p, $10 general, $5 open mic performers

In Miami you have to stay up on what’s current and fresh in night life. A new Friday night club has emerged to be the leading party on Friday nights. Club Souz, owned by popular house and pop music DJ Souz, features celebrity guests, VIP sections surrounded by crystal beaded curtains and neon light patterns with funky designs dance around the floors and walls. Guests can dance to the lastest Hip Hop Club bangers while or chill a one of the many tables and have a drink with friends.

Saturday March 9th
Cool off poolside at Finnegan’s River restaurant and bar at the Clash of the Greek Titans spring break kickoff party. Guests don’t have to be affiliated with a Greek organization to enjoy the view of the Downtown Miami skyline, eat American cuisine at modest prices and dance to Hip Hop and Reggae music.

The Miami Jouvert is back and with more people, Caribbean music and paint! This theme party will be held at Soho Studio in Downtown Miami. Come ready to be bombarded with paint and get messy.

The contestants of the Miss Miami Plus Size pageant will compete on March 9th at the Littman Theater in North Miami. All of the contestant will be vying for the title Miss Miami Plus Size. This is the first annual event and tickets are almost sold out. Special invited guest include recording artist Pleasure P, who is also a Miami Native.
