  • Downtown Miami gets a taste of London-based Izakaya (informal Japanese dining) this month as ZUMA opens its doors at the Epic on May 24. The brainchild of German chef Rainer Becker, the restaurant boasts outposts in London, Hong Kong, Istanbul and Dubai and a roster of celeb clients (Gwyneth Paltrow, Lady Gaga, Beyonce, etc) to sing his praises. Miami is ZUMA’s first stateside location. Look for elements inspired by the original London outpost (lounge bar, sushi counter, Robata grill) as well as some uniquely Miami accents (boat access & a private dock for restaurant diners). Call 305-577-0277 for info & reservations.
  • South Miami gets a dose of cocktails, conversation and canapes as Segafredo expands its South Florida empire south.
  • The Talula team (chef/owners Frank & Andrea Randazzo) is transforming the former Shooters Miami space in North Miami Beach into The Water Club. Details are TBD, but the “must-see destination restaurant” promises dockside dining, bars and a pool.
  • South of Fifth gets a serious wine makeover in June as Wine Depot & Bistro 555 opens on Jefferson Ave. The 6,700-square-foot space will be divided into a wine bar, bistro, market and rooftop event space. Look for sandwiches, salads and charcuterie in the bistro; caviar, cheeses & sausages in the market; and wines starting at $7.
  • SoBe gets yet another Italian outpost next month as owner Daniel Mineo opens Tagliatelle in the former Prive space. The restaurant, said to open in late June, promises an emphasis on seafood.
