Tuesday night's are "Martini Culture" time at The Raleigh
Guest bartenders take center stage with their own mix each week
The Raleigh’s legendary Martini Bar is the new playground for cocktailers and foodies on South Beach.
The classic space, with its antique mahogany bar and terrazzo floors, has reclaimed its status as a mustgo spot for a serious round of drinks.
On Tuesdays from 7 – 9 p.m., rub elbows with a lively cast of characters from the industry – mixologists, sommeliers, food bloggers, F&B folks from neighboring properties, etc. – while guest bartenders take center stage for “Martini Culture,” an event series dedicated to the splendor of the martini, an elixir as archetypal as the 70-year-old hotel. The vibe is supportive, jovial and representative of Miami’s closeknit cocktail community.
Last night, Robert Ferrara of Swine in Coral Gables curated the night’s drink selection. On the menu: his award-winning “English Rose” cocktail (Plymouth Gin, Dolin Blanc Vermouth, Bittermens Burlesque Bitters, Rhubarb syrup, lemon, strawberries, egg white) and the uber potent “50-50” (Plymouth Navy Strength Gin, Dolin Dry Vermouth, Regan’s No. 6 Bitters).
Martini Bar’s resident bartender, Trevor Alberts, was on hand mixing up selections from the venue’s Beverage Book, including “The Crown Colony,” an aromatic daiquiri with Smith & Cross Pot Still Rum (also “Navy Strength”), maple syrup and lime – served up, of course.
Drinks range from $12 - $25 and food from the hotel’s new restaurant, Michael Schwartz, is available. If you’re lucky, you could receive a complimentary drink ticket or two upon arrival from Ryan Goodspeed, beverage director for The Genuine Hospitality Group. He and his team are responsible for the revitalization of the iconic bar in celebration of the hotel’s platinum birthday.
Next week, Ashley Danella of PB Steak is in the hot seat. See what her original recipe will be and keep tabs on this event series: www.raleighhotel.com/dining/martini_bar.
