Tricks and treats

By Lesley Abravanel

It's pretty scary that it's already Halloween. Even scarier was last Friday's Rodmania Halloween Party, hosted by (surprise!) Dennis Rodman and his best gal pal Elaine Lancaster at Gulfstream Park Racing and Casino.

This week, Springbac's Heatherette Halloween will turn tricks at the Hotel Victor, at 9 p.m. Wednesday. It's hosted by Richie Rich and Amanda Lepore, with DJ Tracy Young spinning. Want in? E-mail edison@sobesocial.com.

If that's too flashy for you, consider Sushi Samba's two-night Halloween celebration, beginning Tuesday and continuing on All Hallow's Eve, with a Japanese anime/harajuku-themed party featuring a costume contest awarding $1,000 to the best dressed, $11 Jack O'tinis and Halloween-inspired desserts. Parties begin both nights at 11 p.m. and are open to the public.

You can experience a time warp up the block from Sushi Samba at the Colony Theater, where on Wednesday night, the Environmental Coalition of Miami Beach will hold its second annual Rocky Horror Picture Show Halloween fundraiser. For a tax deductible $22, you get to see the classic cult flick, and clamor for free giveaways, cash prizes for best costumes and a reasonably priced bar. Cocktails start flowing at 8. Call 305-674-1040. For those who are concerned that throwing things at the movie screen is hardly in green fashion, fret not. We're sure everything is biodegradable.

We're not so sure the same goes for the scant costumes expected at the fourth annual Bathrobes and Babydolls party at Shore Club on Sunday, the Dead Ringers Halloween party on Saturday at the Sagamore -- where you are encouraged to dress as your celebrity doppelganger -- the Modelween Theatre of the Vampires party at The Fifth on Saturday or the Saints and Sinners party there on Wednesday. Then there's Wednesday's X-rated Halloween event at Opium Garden and Privé, where adult star Jenna Haze hosts the S&M-themed Hustler Halloween party.

Frightening for some is Tommy Lee, who will be spinning "dirty electro house music" with DJ Aero at Mansion on Saturday. Tickets are $25. Back from the dead on Saturday is B.E.D., which reopens with a soiree debuting new color schemes, new menu and clean sheets! But our favorite party idea thus far has to be Halloween Prom Night: Class of 1957, Saturday at Blink Studios, 521 Michigan Ave. The party is invite-only but you can always try to slip in with a really hideous costume.

Get your kicks on Saturday night at the Vans Off the Wall Art of Sole soiree at the AntiKulture Gallery, 169 NW 36th St., in the Wynwood Art District. DJ Keen One hosts and a slew of artists and performance artists will converge for a culture overdose, beginning at 7 p.m. and going until the proverbial hour of "late." No cover makes it that much more intriguing (same goes for the Volkswagen Sand Soccer Jam 10 a.m.-p.m. Saturday at Lummus Park; a free concert by bilingual rockers Ozomatli begins at 5:30).

And while Lincoln Road is command central for some of the most creative costumes this side of your average Friday night at SET, consider going for an Irish theme at John Martin's in Coral Gables, where from 6 p.m. on, $5 drink specials, food, costume contests and a performance by the Hard Liquor Band rounds out the festivities.

Finally, for those who are just not into getting dressed up for Halloween, don't! Dress your dog up instead for China Grill's Dogs Gone Wild Halloween Party on Sunday. From 6-9 p.m., you can exploit your pooch for a China Grill gift card in various denominations or just sit back and watch the show to the tune of $7 Ketel One drinks. Treats for all!
