Tommy Lee & DJ Aero
By Jay Rooney
Tommy Lee, of Motley Crue fame, and DJ Aero, an Electro/Beakbeat specialist, have formed a kind of "dynamic duo" over the past few years and plan to rock the Conference on Wednesday at the Hotel Gansevoort (2377 Collins Ave., Miami Beach, noon-6 p.m.) and at B.E.D. (929 Washington Ave., Miami Beach, 10 p.m.-5 a.m.); Thursday at Nikki Beach (1 Ocean Dr., Miami Beach, noon-5 a.m.); and Friday at Cameo (1445 Washington Ave., Miami Beach, starting at 11 p.m.).
On their collaboration
Tommy: I still play drums, still sing, still do it all, but DJing has been a passion of mine for quite some f***ing time. I love electronic music. It was a natural progression to me. It’s a blast, we’ve been at it pretty good since ’04. This is our first experience performing together at Ultra.
Aero: We’ve been focusing on our collaborations. And we’ve got some heat [laughter].
On the WMC scene
Aero: The vibe and feel of the city, the people that show up to the club and dance to four or five in the morning, is amazing.
Tommy: It’s a pretty designated crowd. They’re pretty much focused on the music.
Aero: Different crowd than in Pittsburgh [laughter].
On Club Space
Tommy: That place goes off. We’ve been trying to get a gig there forever, that’s definitely a place on my places to play.
On Miami
Tommy: I love to hit up the Cuban restaurants.
Aero: [Versailles], that’s a really good one.
