Where To Find Miami’s Fiercest Drag Shows

Palace Bar

A good drag show has the potential to totally make your day (or night). Once you watch those high-heeled, fully-contoured, fierce as hell babes performing in some of the greatest, glitteriest garb on earth, nothing will seem that bad. Energetic, body positive, and ultra fabulous is what they will make you feel. Plus in Miami, the queens are top-notch. You’re on board? Great! Here’s where you can find them.

Drag Bingo and Double Stubble at Gramps

If bingo’s your thing, you may want to check out Drag Bingo at Gramps over in Wynwood. While this is certainly a lighter version of an epic drag show, there’s plenty of fun to be had here. The beautiful Miss Toto hosts every week, which takes place on Wednesdays starting at 9 p.m. Get BINGO! and win free drinks, gift certificates, vinyl records (it’s hipster city up in here), and more. If karaoke is more your jam, though, make it out to Double Stubble Thursdays, where the queens and kings take over the night—including a second appearance by Miss Toto, plus Hairy Bradshaw, Neon Miller, Kurt Fowl and more.

Senor Frog’s Sunday Drag Brunch

Some folks like to start their Sunday mornings at church. Others know the real fun can be found at Senor Frog’s Drag Brunch. Hosted by the one and only Elaine Lancaster, this show and brunch combo goes on for four hours and is not to be missed. $19.95 gets you in for the grub and entertainment, but $39.99 gets you unlimited mimosas as well. And with guests from RuPaul’s drag race occasionally making the scene, you know you gotta check it out.

This spot is an institution on South Beach that believes that no one should have to wait for the weekend to enjoy a good drag show. Sometimes we just need a queen to lift our spirits up on a damn Tuesday, am I right?

Most Nights at Twist

Locals know that Twist is one of Miami’s best gay clubs. There are seven (count ‘em) bars inside and never a cover, so of course, folks flock. Fortunately, there are several nights a week when the queens also come to play and entertain. Monday nights are dedicated to all things RuPaul’s Drag Race, so lots of fun to be had there. Come on Wednesdays for Fresh with TP Lords (and Josefina “Los Globos” of Azucar putting on a show in the late evenings. Or check out Sazon Latino on Thursdays with Aquiles (plus 2-for-1 drinks). There’s something going on nearly all week long here, so get to it.

Drink-N-Drag And More At Rumors

If you’re willing to make the drive up to Rumors in Wilton Manors (South Florida’s other perfectly queer gayborhood), you’ll want to check out Drink-N-Drag. Self-professed bad bitches Sasha Lords, Calypso Monroe, Twat LaRouge, Mhi’ya LePaige, and Nicole Halliwell all put on quite the show (and the drink specials don’t hurt, either). You can also drop by on Friday nights for the Daisy Deadpetals show, which is currently airing Season 9 of, you guessed it—RuPaul’s Drag Race (it is the best, after all). So the next time you’re done with the Miami drag scene, remember Rumors is just a hop, skip, and jump away.
