The zen spirit of harmony and balance was captured onto clothing at Vivienne Tam’s Spring/Summer 2012 collection. Orchid appliques, bamboo prints, lotus flowers, waterfalls, and petals all found their way onto silks, denim, fringe and chiffon. “I was inspired by the 70s patterns. I wanted to have a lightness of the Spring time and of being in a Japanese garden,” said Tam backstage after her show at Lincoln Center.
The collection which very much suits Miami weather and style featured lots of coral, cyan, citrine and sea inspired blues. There were goddess like gowns swirling in an array of florals, cherry red blazers, cigarette pants called Bardot pants, mismatching tops and bottoms, fringe flapper styled frocks and for the fashionista who wants to make a statement: sheer tops and wide leg pants both emblazoned in the same print. A purple velvet short and a metallic sequined number also found their way into the collection.“It’s perfect for Miami because the lightness and colors of it. The person wearing it is going to be glowing,” said Tam
