Top 5 boozy, beat-infused, beatniky, body-beautiful and beneficent Miami events

Grandtheft Audio

Club music fans can forgive Canada for Justin Bieber thanks to the country’s most esteemed DJ, Grandtheft, whose dance and Top 40 remixes include Rihanna’s “Bitch Better Have My Money” and T.I.’s “No Mediocre.” And while Grandtheft typically performs at massive festivals like Lollapalooza and Coachella, he is heading to South Beach at 11 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27 for an up close and personal set at Rec Room, 1690 Collins Ave. where he will spin his own original tracks and remixes. Show is free. For table reservations, email Miami@RecRoomies.com. And we dare you to request a Celine Dion or Ann Murray song. Just do it.

(Semi) Conscious Acts of Kindness

It sounds silly, drinking for a cause, but sometimes, other peoples’ causes are more important than an afternoon of pickling your liver. Case in point: a charity bar crawl kicking off at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 27 at Tea & Poets at The Shops at Sunset Place, 5701 Sunset Drive. For $35, you will hobble on to Buffalo Wild Wings, Mellow Mushroom, Station 5, Rok:Brg and Bougainvillea’s Tavern. You get your first shot, beer or cocktail with your ticket price. Extended happy hour specials for the second, third or fourth will be in effect as will specials on much needed appetizers, with proceeds benefiting SoFlo nonprofit Conscious Acts of Kindness. Rumrunning

National Rum Day happened to have come and gone on Aug. 16, but many of you may still be feeling the effects. And if not, AFROHEAD Rum has teamed up with Repour, 1650 James Ave., to extend the boozy holiday throughout the month with a $20 rum flight that doesn’t just get you loopy, but will also get you educated in the form of a redeemable ticket for a complimentary cocktail class hosted by AFROHEAD Rum ambassador on Aug. 31. Guests there will discover ways to wow their friends with fresh, stirred, smoky and shaken cocktails. While the flights are available all month, the class will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31. If you don’t have a ticket, you just need to buy a rum flight, which costs $20–a lot cheaper than an actual flight and hotel in Harbour Island, from which AFROHEAD hails.

Ohm Em Gee

Say it isn’t so. The summer is about to come to an end, but, besides kids going back to school practically in the dead of summer, how would you ever know? Anatomy at 1220, 1220 20th St., is making it clear with the End of Summer Flow, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 29, featuring a special night of rooftop yoga led by Green Monkey instructors Amy Dannheim and Paula Walker. After clearing your summer chakras and readying them for fall, you’ll get to use the cold and hot plunge, infrared sauna and eucalyptus steam room, so bathing suits are encouraged. Cost is $20 and admission is taken at the door.

Wyn Wyn Situation

After a bit of a scare with pesky mosquitoes and Zika, The Wynwood Yard, 56 NW 29th St., celebrates its reopening form 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27 with the Raddest Craft Fair, featuring hands-on workshops including one on how to make a dream catcher with local biz Soul Karavan, or a key chain with HEIST, or paper plant houses with the Wolfsonian-FIU, among others. There will also be live music by songwriters including Shira Abergel. Resident food concepts are offering milk and cookies specials from places such as della test kitchen, Mr. Bing’s, Cold Pressed Raw and Mortar & Pistil, who will also be offering something stronger than milk. The event is free to attend and prices vary on workshops and foodstuffs. For more information, click here.
