Half Priced Happiness
Brickell traffic is admittedly abysmal, but for those who work or live in the area, or for those who love sitting in an Uber for unknown amounts of time making friends with the driver, there’s good reason be Brickell-bound, specifically between the hours of 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and more specifically to PM Fish and Steak House, 1453 S. Miami Ave. You can sip on half-priced martinis, signature and classic cocktails on the newly renovated patio or inside at the bar. A happy hour menu of Argentine apps from beef empanadas and tuna taquitos to white fish Ceviche and Brie and chorizo crouton is also a steal at $3 to $4 each. Suddenly that traffic doesn’t seem so unbearable anymore.
Those of a certain generation, ahem, may remember a resplendent PBS show called “The Magic Garden,” which, for toddlers, was definitely magical, and for adults, somewhat trippy. Both can be said for Mina’s Mediterraneo, 749 NE 79th St., where from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, it’s Summer Sessions in The Garden, a live music series crafted by local music luminary Sarah Packiam featuring a variety of Miami-based musicians. On the roster are reggae fusion group Rhythmadix on Friday, June 24 and Latin-pop duo Hola-hi on Saturday, June 25. The music is accompanied by after-dinner cocktails in an enchanted alfresco setting. All that’s missing are Carole and Paula (generations following X should Google immediately).
It’s Irie’s World
Miami’s own DJ Irie is the hardest working man in showbiz since nobody. The guy never seems to sleep or stop and can still speak in coherent sentences no matter what time zone he’s in. His inimitable energy, style and savvy doesn’t stop in the DJ booth either, expanding onto the charitable circuit with his 12th Annual Irie Weekend benefiting the Irie Foundation’s contributions to the community. Closing out the weekend in typical Irie-style at 10 p.m. Saturday, June 25 is a huge bash at E11EVEN Miami, 29 NE 11th St., with special DJ set and performance by Grammy winning artist and Waze direction-giver, T-PAIN. Other celebs are expected to celebrate the culmination of yet another tireless effort by Irie, who should really go home and take a nap sometime this summer. While life may be a cabaret on some nights, on Wednesdays, it’s a Brasserie – as in Brasserie Central at the Shops of Merrick Park, 320 San Lorenzo Ave., where, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. every Wednesday it’s Champagne & Pearls Ladies Night featuring free champagne and $1 oysters. Kicking off the new night on Wednesday, June 29 is a showcase by local jewelry designer Jacqueline Grieco who will show off her latest line in between sips and, er, sucks. In addition, there will be half priced hors d’oeuvres and half off select wines, beers and cocktails.
