Sunglass Hut Opens Largest U.S. Store

Sunglass Hut, the leading global sunglass retailer, announces the opening of its largest store in the United States located at 845 Lincoln Road in Miami Beach.

On the morning of May 23, 2012, Sunglass Hut will mark the official debut with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The grand opening is free to the public and will feature great giveaways, DJ Reed spinning, fun promotions and a chance to win attendance to the evening VIP block party. To celebrate the grand opening, super model Chanel Iman will make an appearance in-store and interact with consumers throughout the morning.

Later that evening, a private VIP block party will take place where influencers and celebrities will enjoy specialty cocktails, bite size treats, fun “street” games, an interactive photo booth where new sunglass styles can be modeled and a chance to see a performance by the internet musical sensation Karmin.

The 1,875 square foot store provides customers with a unique sunglass shopping experience with nearly 2,000 pairs of designer and performance brand sunglasses available for customers to try on. With influences from South Beach, the new store draws upon the energetic, sexy and provocative side of the city while setting the stage for customers to find their cool.

“We are very excited to bring a new and innovative store to Miami,” General Manager of Sunglass Hut John Haugh says. “This city was the birthplace of Sunglass Hut and it’s very special to return to our roots and open our largest U.S. store in South Beach.”

Drawing upon the dual personality of Miami from day to night, the space is bright and shiny with just enough black to ground the space. Matte and silver tiled “bling” wrap the store to create drama and impact, while lit skylights punctuate the space and flood the area with sun during the day. Cove lighting illuminates the store creating a “Miami at night” vibe.

One of the most technologically advanced stores in the country, the new Sunglass Hut will feature self-shopping tablets as part of the customers’ experience as well as tablets for associates at point of sale. The lighting and imagery throughout the store reveals the dynamic and innovative side of the brand. Sunglass Hut’s trademark Social Sun Screen will be available in the space for shoppers to try on their favorite styles, share pictures online with their friends and upload onto social networks.

Lincoln Road shoppers will also enjoy a first of its kind luxury shop that features Sunglass Hut’s premium brands, such as Chanel, Coach, Dolce&Gabbana, Prada and Tiffany & Co. to name a few. The intimate area, separated from the retail space with a white fringe curtain is complete with modern chandeliers and a lounge space, which will highlight the latest iconic frames from the top luxury brands as well as the current trends. The shop will also feature dynamic South Beach imagery through digital media screens, incorporating the Miami scenery into the store. With over 30 designer brands available, the new Lincoln Road store will feature an expanded brand assortment that truly reflects Sunglass Hut’s personality and the Miami consumer with a focus on Burberry, Bulgari, Chanel, Coach, Dolce & Gabbana, Persol, Prada, Ralph Lauren, Tiffany & Co., Tory Burch, Versace and Vogue. Consumers will also be able to find classic sunglass brands like Ray-Ban and Oakley.
