SLS Brickell to open with Boy George at splashy party

After breaking ground in January 2014, the SLS Brickell Hotel & Residences is celebrating its grand opening Thursday night with a splashy, invite-only party featuring a performance by Boy George.

The 55-story property, designed by Arquitectonica’s Bernardo Fort-Brescia, is home to 124 hotel rooms and 450 condo residences, as well as two restaurants Fi’lia and Bazaar Mar by James Beard Award-winning chefs, Michael Schwartz and longtime sbe collaborator José Andrés, respectively.

The party is hosted by Related Group Founder and Chairman Jorge Perez, sbe Founder and CEO Sam Nazarian, interior designer Philippe Starck, Arquitectonica’s Fort-Brescia and Chefs Andrés and Schwartz.

The evening promises a live 30-minute performance by ’80s pop icon Boy George backed by an 11-piece band and a DJ set by Pepsi’s DJ Savi as guests nibble on bites and sip cocktails by Andrés and Schwartz.

For those who didn’t snag an invite to the VIP shindig, Fi’lia and Bazaar Mar are currently taking reservations.
