Rocker Lenny Kravitz joins UR1 Festival lineup in Miami during Art Basel weekend

Iconic rocker Lenny Kravitz is a little bit of funk, mixed in with some soul and a whole lot of rock-n-roll. His music transcends any one genre, which makes him a perfect fit as the newest addition to the impressive list of talent at the inaugural UR1 Arts and Music Festival, Dec. 8-9 at Bayfront Park.

Kravitz’s music has spanned over 20 years and his work goes beyond being a musician. He is a songwriter, actor and designer. Over his vast career he sold over 38 million albums and worked with countless musical talent.

Kravitz was born in New York, but he actually holds a residence right here in Miami. (He voted in the recent elections in Miami.)

Also on the line-up is local musician Kevens, who will be bringing his unique brand of live-dubstep-reggae-rock to the main stage at UR1 to open for Kravitz and Jane’s Addiction on the main stage on Sunday, Dec. 9.

Kevens may sound new to some people fresh to the scene but he was the first live act to play at Ultra Music Festival back in. He has spent the past year working on new music and preparing for a comeback here in Miami.

Kevens’ music has a strong foundation in the Roots-Rock-Reggae genre and he was one of the first to blend a live band with electronic dance music. This fusion has given him an exceptional unique sound.

“I miss playing for my Miami audience. This is my time to re-launch myself,” Kevens said. “I plan on playing at the Dubstep stage on that Saturday to re-introduce myself. When they asked me to play the mainstage for Lenny Kravitz and Jane’s Addiction how could I say no.”

(If you would like a sneak preview of what to expect out of Kevens he will be performing at the Bayjama Reggae Fest at Founders Park in Islamorada on Saturday, Nov. 10.)

UR1 festival is sculpting together an international list of talent that will attempt to transcend the borders between music genres and unite people together through art and sound during this years Art Basel weekend.

With the addition of Kravitz they now have on the roster Kanye West, Lou Reed, Slash, Jane’s Addiction, Fun, Animal Collective, Flying Lotus, Peter Murphy, Erick Morillo, Dead Can Dance. And Go Big Productions says more acts will be added.

Expect more announcements in the next couple of weeks.
