The lowdown: You’ve unequivocally decided that your flabby abdominals are not in the cards for 2012. In that case, a sweat session at Pilates on the Beach or sister location, Pilates in the Grove, is in order.
Open seven days a week, both studios focus on improving strength, flexibility and overall physical fitness through mind-body exercise technique or with the Pilates method.
Exercising takes place on a machine called the Reformer/Allegro, which offers a full-body workout while targeting the abs with each exercise. Pilates purists tout Pilates as an excellent means to lengthen your body, improve posture, enhance flexibility to muscles, improve spinal mobility, and strengthen your arms, legs, buttocks, abs and back.
The vibe: Owners Aliza Bixon, Christa Gurka and Shana Kruger have created spacious and sunny studios in both the Miami Beach and Coconut Grove outposts.
The highlights: From group Reformer classes ($30 each) to private Pilates sessions ($85 each), both spots have got you covered. Class packages are also available for less.
