It’s a great weekend in South Florida to be a kid or to be weary parents trying to entertain the kids. Here’s a lineup of fun family activities.

Miami-Dade & Keys

Fall Fest: The Carnival For Kids of All Ages (that means you!) is slated for 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday at Miami Dade College’s Kendall Campus. Admission is only a buck, and the event features amusement rides, games, music, arts and crafts, face painting, balloon art, food and prizes. The Great Green Family Festival: Learn about green practices, plants, trees and that other green stuff – money and money-saving tips at this event, which also features live music and kids’ fun, such as a petting zoo and interactive activities. The fest is 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Redland Fruit and Spice Park, 24801 SW 187th Ave., in The Redland. Marathon Aviation Day: Missed last weekend’s show at Homestead? Don’t despair. This aviation show showcases rare and commercial aircraft such as FedEx cargo plane, home-built and light-sport aircraft, World War II “War Birds’’ and rescue aircraft used by the sheriff’s department Trauma Star program and the Coast Guard. Pilots from around the region can fly in for a quick bite at the event’s pancake breakfast and burger lunch. The Experimental Aircraft Association’s on-site aviation museum at the east end of the airport features some treasured aviation artifacts, too, including pieces from World War II, books, videos and a beacon that was on the ground when the airport was built. In addition, you can see an exhibit of antique cars inside the airport. Miami Greek Festival: Opa! The 34th annual event features authentic Greek food, homemade Greek pastries, live music, dancing and rides for kids. South Miami Manatee Fest: Come see the manatee sculptures before they are painted and hit the streets of South Miami and beyond. More than 20 artists will be on hand and carting off the manatees which they will paint with messages to save the environment and what they are calling the beautiful creatures of seas and waterways; 10-11:30 a.m. Friday; First National Bank of South Miami, 5800 SW 73rd St., South Miami. The kick-off is free and the artists hope to have them painted by January and the organizers are looking for sponsors for the creation. 305-775-0113.

Happy Paws Pet Expo: South Florida’s largest consumer pet event features 200 exhibitors, live entertainment, pet experts and seminars for pet owners. You can get the skinny on pet foods, grooming, pet fitness and trendy accessories. Also included are fun activities, such as the rescue dogs that have become athletes called Disc-Connected K9s and K9s in Flight and are experts at catching Frisbees. They will be joined by the high-flying Dock Dogs and you’re in for a a “Frisbee-bone-anza.’’ Also featured is Bwana Jim’s Wildlife Show, Larry’s Amazing Bird Show, a petting zoo and a bounce house for kids.
