I know you’re just now recovering from the craziness of Art Basel, but in case you haven’t gotten enough of all of the Art Basel partying and hobnobbing, here are some things to add to your calendar for this weekend. Another option is to sit at home and miss out on this gorgeous relaxing weather.
Second Saturdays Art Walk in Wynwood and Midtown
Saturday, Dec 14, the crowd is the best from 7pm – 10pm
Last year’s Art Basel coincided with Second Saturdays. You can imagine how crazy that was. This year we get to spread it out over two weeks. If you’ve never enjoyed the eclectic vibe of Art Walk, then this is your last chance to do so this year. Stroll from gallery to gallery, some of which offer music and wine, and also dine out the local eateries or food trucks.
Perez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) Free Second Saturdays presented by Target
Saturday, Dec 14, 1pm – 4pm – 1103 Biscayne Blvd, Miami
With the grand opening during Art Basel, PAMM kicks off its free monthly program with art-making, family friendly tours, and music. Hear “First Beat” an original performance created just for PAMM: 12 female drummers from Miami and beyond stationed throughout the building playing a composition orchestrated by Mindy Abovitz founder and publisher of Tom Tom magazine.
Free and open to the public.

11th Annual South Florida Natural Hair, Beauty, and Wellness Expo
Sunday, Dec 15, 11am – 8pm – Hyatt Regency Downtown Miami
Presented by Natural Trendsetters in association with Simply Natural Organicals Products, the expo will include hair, beauty and wellness workshops, product sampling, vendor booths, live hair demonstrations as well as expert panels. The event will also feature a live hair competition of barber battles, stylist showcases, natural hair wars and fantasy feuds with special musical performances.
Open to the public. Admission to the exposition is $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Children 12 and under are free. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Save the Twins Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to the education, prevention and treatment of breast cancer in both men and women.
A Special Screening of Keeping it On

From the creators of URGENT Inc.’s, She Kept the Bra On! Chronicles of a Teenage Love Affair, comes a new short film, Keeping it On, that compellingly explores the issues of teen dating, love, fear, and hope. Filmed in Miami’s Overtown, Director James Jalen Acosta weaves an intense, comical and real world tale on how teens navigate the complexities of family life, relationships, and community pressures. Keeping it On will not only engage but open the door to having tough conversations around defining healthy and unhealthy teen dating relationships.
Activities include an interactive workshop about healthy teen dating, knowing the warning signs of abuse, community dialogue and panel discussion after the film. Who should attend: students in grades 6-12, parents, youth service professionals and the community.

BLACK MALE REVISITED: Revenge of The New Negro
