Those crazy kids Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele are back for more kinky bedroom playtime in “Fifty Shades Darker,” the film adaptation of the second novel in the mommy-porn trilogy by E.L. James.
But the reviews for this new installment, which was directed by James Foley, are scorching with hate. Here’s a round-up of some of the early reactions to the movie, which stars Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan and wasn’t screened for press until Wednesday night – usually a sign there’s not enough lipstick in the world to dress up this pig:
“So awful, you’ll whip yourself for seeing it.” – Rafer Guzman, Newsday
“For a movie that’s supposed to be about BDSM, ‘Fifty Shades Darker’ is more like ROFL.” – Stephen Whitty, NJ.com.
“Banalities, bromides and blank stares.” – Alonso Duralde, The Wrap
“Blindfolds and tasteful wrist restraints are just this year’s superficial twist on the Cinderella story.” – John DeFore, The Hollywood Reporter
“There have been calls to boycott this film because it’s about abusing women. Honestly, you should boycott it because it’s boring.” – Matt Neal, The Standard
