Spring is so close, we can taste it. While this cold front definitely has our spirits up, we can’t wait for the non-stop celebrations that are about to hit the city… and we’re not talking about the Miami Music Week or Winter Music Conference getdowns. We’re talking about all the great cultural openings, meet-ups, jazz nights, festivals, and happenings in the upcoming weeks. Here’s our select favorites:

Thursday, March 16

5th Annual Pause for a Cause – Take this opportunity to “Party with a Purpose” for the once-a-year event where local professionals raise a glass and unite to raise money for many important causes in our community. The best part: 15% of every tab goes directly back to your favorite nonprofits! All proceeds will be split among the participating organizations.

Coconut Grove Throwback Happy Hour – Happy hour to celebrate the return of the Coconut Grove Playhouse! Come learn about the plans for restoration and show some love for 33133. Also learn about the initiative to encourage access to Carver for community residents.

The Imperial Presents CULTRA 3 – CULTRA is a roving Open Mic held in a Downtown Miami park every third-Thursday from January to May. Produced in collaboration with Emerge Miami, CULTRA is an opportunity for local performers in all disciplines to showcase their skills for fellow Miamians in some of the most scenic public spaces this town has to offer. This month, they are taking CULTRA to the water thanks to the folks from Miami Science Barge.

Friday, March 17

Clarke’s St. Patrick’s Day – It only comes once a year, Laura Cullen and crew are back to celebrate St. Paddy’s at Sweet Liberty. The Irish Spring Rolls, Clarke’s Chicken Wings and all the Guinness! Brendan O’Hara will be performing, bag pipers, Irish Whiskey cocktails and all the surprises.

Omni Park Grand Opening – A ribbon-cutting ceremony by Commissioner Ken Russell and live jazz by the Derek Fairholm Trio. Keep the night going with a live performance by funk/blues virtuoso Roosevelt Collier and DJ Sets by local favorites Mr. Pauer + Benton. Happy Hour, Food, & Refreshments.

Elastic Bond Listening Party – Celebrating the release of Elastic Bond’s great new album “Honey Bun” freshly out on Nacional Records. Hear the album in its entirety and then see the group play a special acoustic set on the Sweat stage. All ages welcome, snacks and drinks provided.

NWS Yoga Mornings – This monthly yoga class features a rotating roster of top instructors and offers a unique experience that combines the best things that Miami Beach has to offer: the outdoors, yoga, classical music and the opportunity to connect with the community.

BeeCause Flea – Join local farmers, artisans and makers for Tropical Audubon Society’s inaugural BEE-cause Flea, in support of the Pollinators who feed our Planet — Birds, Bees, Butterflies, Bats & Beetles.

Sunday, March 19

Snowing on South Beach – Smashed Flamingo keeps heating things up bringing Funky Buddha Brewery to take over the taps and keep things cool at Ricky’s South Beach. Vibe this Sunday afternoon and enjoy great music from DJ ZEA while you enjoy a great selection of beers including their famed Last Snow Coconut & Coffee Porter.

The Miami Flea – Swing by and enjoy the local community with pop-ups galore. Ride your bike or take transit, and make sure to stop by the kid’s corner by Little Creative Souls for some creative crafts, and face painting. They’ll have workshops, one-of-a-kind gifts, and brand new vendors. Check out the amazing creations by local artisans, adopt a puppy, or get your hands henna-fied. There will be vintage treasures, vinyl, and more thrift finds that ever before.

Pineapple Sunday – Enjoy the most magical Sunday with great live music, cocktails, dominoes, great weather and much more. Music by: The Goodnites, Oigo, Lemon City Trio featuring AJ Hill, Jahzel Dotel, Vlade Divak, and DJ Set by DJ LeSpam.

Spring Equinox BBQ – Welcome the Spring Equinox with a Vegetarian BBQ hosted with a bunch of locals. Vegan ice cream sandwiches by Wynwood Parlor and Chef Jimmy will be serving up one-of-a-kind vegetarian eats, fresh off the grill! Plus: special guest Raw Juce is coming through with organic juice samples for all and Miami Flower Market will be here selling beautiful flower bundles. The Onikas will be there selling their artisanal goods.

Monday, March 20

Public Space Challenge Workshop – Join The Miami Foundation and Design Thinking Miami for a workshop on how to use the human-centered design process to approach public space projects. The purpose of this workshop is to inspire great ideas that can be submitted into the 2017 Public Spaces Challenge, where $305,000 will be invested to make top ideas a reality.

The Future is Female Festival – Lost Girls Theatre is excited to announce their participation in the national The Future is Female Festival, presenting readings of short plays by eleven female playwrights, including four high school students.

Slap & Ticket 5-Year Anniversary – The prolific producer DJ, Moon Boots has been behind a seemingly endless string of singles and remixes over the years that have since become staples for the discerning music lover. His compositions are S+T mainstays, having had a significant impact on the style and sound of the night.

Wednesday, March 22

EOL Soulfrito Jam – Some freshness coming to Miami, the EOL Soulfrito Jam is the new band with an all star cast of musicians led by conductor Louie Vega. Welcoming sounds for everyone, live soul, jazz & Latin funk grooves. Feel the exciting vibes of this band which will release its first single soon for a musical trip.

Jazzy Stars – Outdoor jazz , a bottle of wine or craft cocktail , neapolitan pizza and your tribe, that’s our kind of urban Wednesday jam. The Lemon City Trio is FUN. Mashed up sounds of funk-jazz-R&B and hip hop to bring you a sound wholly their own even though they take their cues from old school New Orleans funk and jazz.

Thursday, March 23

Movies Under the Stars – Enjoy a free screening of the critically-acclaimed and GOYA Award-winning Argentinian thriller, “El Clan” en plein air. Based on a true story, the biographical crime film directed by Pablo Trapero revolves around the Puccios, a seemingly normal middle class family that murdered and kidnapped upper-class social members in the 1980s. This film is not suitable for children.

Friday, March 24

01 Workshops – In this special full-day Teacher Planning Day workshop, explore board game design and the history by building a simple board game and playing old and new games like Go, Chess, Lattice Board, and Settlers of Catan. You will design modern pieces and rules to classic games and 3D print out designs and play your new games.

Buena Vista Social Club – “In Havana, music isn’t a pastime, it’s a way of life in Wim Wenders’ Buena Vista Social Club. In 1996 Ry Cooder went to Cuba to record an album of classic Cuban popular music. Searching, he came upon a number of veteran musicians forgotten in their own land. The music they made together – timeless and sublime – won a Grammy and sold in the millions…” Watch the classic documentary live.

PAMM ARTworkOUT Series – In anticipation of the World OUTGames, coming to Miami this May, join PAMM and Equinox for the third program in a new series merging art and fitness. Featured on Good Morning America, Vogue, The Daily Front Row and POPSUGAR Fitness, unleash your fighter spirit with Equinox’s The Cut – a primal, powerful, music-driven workout that takes boxing to a whole new level.

The Dandy Lion Roars – IlluminArts, Miami’s Art Song and Vocal Chamber Music series, is proud to present an afternoon of songs celebrating the politically and socially illuminating photography exhibit, “Dandy Lion: {Re} Articulating Black Masculine Identity”.

Soul Clap’s House of Efunk Miami – The House of EFUNK is Soul Clap’s traveling event concept which focuses on teaching y’all the history of dance music’s past and its deep connection to the future. This year the party begins with a funky outdoor afternoon BBQ celebrating local Miami talent including Alpha 606, Don Redfox, Gran Moxy, Shaney Shane Vincent, Theo Motion, Will Buck & Prtmnto. All of these artists participated in “Three Oh Five Life”, a compilation of mostly undiscovered Miami based talent, due for release March 17th on Soul Clap Records.

Hip Hop Don’t Stop – For the last 10 Years Hip Hop Don’t Stop has been rocking Europe with dopest hip hop live performances and DJs. They close it out with a block party in Miami with a lineup of 12 internationally recognized hip hop DJs and a live performance by Brooklyn’s own Talib Kweli. Along with awesome local vendors/brands such as Nugbrand and RollWhiteBoys, and Food & Cocktails.

DONUTSfest – Celebrate your sweet tooth on Thursday, March 30th, 2017 at the 2nd annual Donuts!, South Florida’s first and only doughnut festival. In partnership with the Miami New Times and benefiting the United Way of Miami-Dade, Donuts! promises to please your palate one doughnut at a time.
