Catering to Miami’s hipster crowd is Collins Bridge, the newest of eyewear brands to launch in Miami. Chances are if you shop at Urban Outfitters, rummage the racks at Goodwill or don vintage, you’ll be wearing these shades. Siblings Mark, Scott and Rachel Edelsberg are the brainchild behind the made-in-Miami company that has already been featured in the pages of People’s Style magazine.
“Our main clientele are young professionals, people ages 18 to 35, who want to look great without having to spend a fortune on an accessory that they wear every day,” said Mark.
The trio teamed up after growing up with both parents in the optical industry for 25 years.
“Our goal was to create a company that has affordable eyewear with a fashion-forward aesthetic,” said Scott.
And stylish it is. The eye-wear has a 50s and 80s vibe with its designs. All the glasses are named after different areas and places in South Florida too such as Wynwood, Alton, Lincoln, Biltmore and Delano.
Glasses are all made by hand in a lab based out of Wynwood and distribution is out of Aventura. All frames are $98, including prescription lenses. Sunglasses with prescription lenses are $168. The company also offers consumers a chance to try on various glasses at home with a program called Try@Home.
“With the Try@Home, we give customers the chance to try up to 5 frames for up to 5 days. Shipping is free both ways, ” said Rachel. The program also benefits charity. The Try @Home box includes 6 slots: 5 for the frames that you would like to try on, and one empty slot. “We ask customers to fill that slot with their own old frames that they either don’t want or don’t wear. We refurbish the frames and get them to someone in need. Our goal is to get to 10,000 frames donated by our customers in our first year,”said Rachel.
