Art Miami/CONTEXT/Aqua Art Miami
Where: The Art Miami Pavilion in Miami Midtown Arts District – Midtown Blvd (NE 1st Avenue) between NE 32nd & NE 31st Street, Miami.
Art Miami celebrates its 24th year of showcasing top-notch modern and contemporary art from 125 galleries and art institutions worldwide. The event presents participants and viewers with the opportunity to experience premier works in the global contemporary art movement. Coinciding with Art Miami is CONTEXT, featuring trendsetting galleries from around the globe exhibiting in a state-of-the-art pavilion directly adjacent to Art Miami, and Aqua Art Miami, which presents vibrant and noteworthy art programs that aim to support young dealers and galleries with strong emerging and early-to-mid career artists.
Where: Meridian and 19th Street, adjacent to the Miami Beach Convention Center
Design Miami/ brings together the most influential collectors, gallerists, designers, curators and critics from around the world in celebration of design culture and commerce. The event occurs alongside the Art Basel fair to showcase museum-quality exhibitions of 20th and 21st century furniture, lighting and objets d’art. The event presents collaborations with designers and design institutions, panels and lectures with luminaries from the worlds of design, architecture, art and fashion, and unique commissions from the world’s top emerging and established designers and architects.
Art Basel Miami Beach
Where: Miami Beach Convention Center, 1901 Convention Center Drive, Miami Beach and various galleries and museums around the city.
The prom of the art world, Art Basel Miami Beach, brings together the world’s top galleries, art dealers, artists of all media, collectors and art aficionados for a series of events, parties, satellite fairs, film screenings, musical performances and architecture and design displays. Tied to the prestigious art show, Art Basel Switzerland, Art Basel Miami Beach brings more than 250 prominent galleries from around the world with artwork by more than 2,000 artists. Newcomers, established artists, masters and emerging artists all share the stage at this non-stop art party.

Grammy Award winning chorus Seraphic Fire offers a series of concerts for the holiday season. First catch the rapturous sound of a cappella carols at Seraphic Fire’s annual candlelight Christmas concerts from Dec. 5-17 in a program that combines Gregorian chant, timeless carols, and glorious motets. From Dec. 20-22 they continue their tradition with its rousing annual presentation of Handel’s Messiah.
Miami Taste of Brickell Holiday Kick-Off Party
Where: Mary Brickell Village, 901 S. Miami Ave., Miami
The Shops at Mary Brickell Village hosts a food and wine events in Miami with samples from downtown Miami’s finest restaurants, cocktails, music and a fashion show featuring the latest fashions from Mary Brickell Village’s finest boutiques and shops.
Winterfest Boat Parade
Where: Birch State Park (for viewing) – 3109 E. Sunrise Blvd., Fort Lauderdale, boats will be on the Intracoastal Waterway.
Winterfest Boat Parade is a highly anticipated annual event that allows both viewers and sea-bound participants with a chance to watch the many gorgeous boats glimmering across Fort Lauderdale’s renowned waterway in an elegant, colorful spectacle. The viewing grandstand will be in Birch State Park. and the participating boats will be organized in the Intracoastal Waterway. This year’s celebrity Grand Marshall is reality star/actress Tori Spelling.
George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker
Dec. 19-24 and 27-30
Where: Adrienne Arsht Center, 1300 Biscayne Blvd., Miami (Dec. 19-24), Kravis Center for the Performing Arts, 701 Okeechobee Blvd., West Palm Beach (Dec.27-30).
The holiday season is not complete without the Miami City Ballet’s production of George Balanchine’s ‘The Nutcracker’ with a cast of more than 100 dancers, glorious sets and costumes, magical special effects, beautiful music, and exceptional dancing by international stars. If you miss the December performances in Miami and West Palm Beach, the company does a weekend of shows at the Broward Center Jan. 3-5, 2014.
King Mango Strut Parade
Where: Downtown Coconut Grove, parade begins at the corner of Commodore Plaza and Main Highway
Kimye’s baby. Miley Cyrus’ twerking. The government shut down. Obamacare. Those are just a few things that you may see on parade at the King Mango Strut, a wacky event that gives the past year a send off with a pageant of of irreverence and wackiness that was founded by a team that was rejected by the King Orange Bowl Parade. The parade route begins at the corner of Commodore Plaza, and Main Highway. It turns left onto Main Highway, left onto Grand Ave, and then back around Commodore Plaza.
New Year’s Eve
Where: Various venues throughout South Florida
