O Miami Poetry Festival
Where: Various venues throughout Miami and Miami Beach
Now in its third edition, this month-long poetry celebration will feature a packed itinerary of readings, open mics, seminars, workshops, author presentations and dinners with renowned poets plus parties, a poetry pub crawl and poetry karaoke.
South Beach Comedy Festival
Where: Fillmore Miami Beach at the Jackie Gleason Theatre, 1700 Washington Ave.; Colony Theatre, 1040 Lincoln Road
Comedic heavyweights serve up generous portions of hilarity at this annual festival. This year’s headliners include Chelsea Handler, the comic and writer who is on tour promoting her latest book “Uganda Be Kidding Me,” plus Nick Swardson, Mike Epps, Joe Rogan and many more.
Where: Lyric Theater Miami, 819 NW Second Ave., Miami
Amateur night at its best! Cheer for your favorite or jeer the worst at the historic Lyric Theater’s showcase of local talent with host Chello and live music by Jody Hill and the Deep Fried Funk BAnd. Singers, dancers, rappers, poets, magicians and anyone with a talent to share will compete to see who claims the $500 purse.
Florida Renaissance Festival
April 4-6, 11-13
Where: Cauley Square Historic Village, 22400 Old Dixie Hiwy., Goulds
Cauley Square gets its annual dose of medievil mayhem with an invasion of motleyed fools, armored knights, corseted queens plus games of skill for the festivalgoers like archery and tests of strength, old school carnival rides, comedy shows and food aplenty.
Heineken Transatlantic Festival
Where: North Beach Bandshell, 7275 Collins Ave., Miami Beach; other venues
Emerging and international artists get some love from The Rhythm Foundation every year with their Transatlantic Festival, a showcase of up-and-coming musicians from around the globe. Things kick off Friday with performances by Afrobeta, Esteman and Astro. Saturday night’s line-up includes Tremends, The courtney John Project and Bombino.

Now in its 42nd edition, the “Super Bowl of Showjumping” makes its South Florida debut bringing together elite equestrian athletes vying for the 2014 title on one of the toughest courses anywhere in the world.
Miami Riverday Festival
Where: Lummus Park Historic District, 250 NW North River Dr., Miami
Cruise down the Miami River at this annual celebration that takes place in Downtown Miami’s Lummus Park, the first park built in the City of Miami. The free festival features riverboat tours, a variety of live music, children activities, environmental education, historical re-enactments, art displays and more.
South Beach Triathlon
Where: Miami Beach, near 6th Street and Ocean Drive
This annual test of endurance gives regular fitness fans a chance to bike, swim and run next to celebrities, elite athletes, corporate teams through a beautiful course around Miami Beach. Bonus: The blood, sweat and tears will benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

This four-day festival of wine, food, beer and hobnobbing brings out Miami’s foodies for a sampling of craft beer, fine wine tasting, an interactive dinner with a celebrity chef plus a swanky Auction & Wine Dinner where guests will be serenaded by Tony and Emmy award-winning star Kristin Chenoweth.
Miami Beach Gay Pride
Where: Miami Beach, on Ocean Drive between 6th and 12th streets
Make way for the rainbow flags as Miami Beach becomes ground zero for the LGBT community to celebrate their pride in a two-day extravaganza that includes a beach party and a festival and parade down Ocean Drive. This year’s Grand Marshalls include Miami songstress Gloria Estefan and producer Kenny Ortega.
Miami International Agriculture, Horse and Cattle Show
Where: Tropical Park, 7900 SW 40th St., Miami
Check out premium show cattle from around the world, the Paso Fino horseshow, the farm animal exhibition, horseback skills demos, shows from Medieval Times plus kids’ activities and more farm life fun at this agribusiness event.
Deering Estate Festival of the Arts
Where: Deering Estate, 16701 SW 72nd Ave., Miami
Celebrate the literary, visual and performing arts with events like the Lost Girls Playwright Reading, a Piano Masterclass with Charles Castleman, the opening of the “In Deep Exhibit,” the National Waterdance Performance, Poetry at the Fire Circle with Mia Leonin, the “Spark of Genius” Concert with Charles Castleman.
Spring Garden Festival at Fairchild

See what’s growing at Fairchild during their annual showcase of spring plants plus sample local foods, learn how to tend your own garden, sample Spring brews in the Spring Beer Garden, shop for veggies from local vendors and enjoy hands-on scientific activities and culinary demonstrations.

Miami Beach Polo World Cup
Where: On Miami Beach, between 20th and 22nd Streets
The sport of kings comes galloping back to Miami Beach at this annual tournament that draws thousands of spectators for four days of polo matches with VIP lounges, cocktails, after parties and platinum style partying.
