The Miami Beach Polo World Cup is back for the ninth year, this time around with sponsor La Martina, the luxe Argetinean Polo gear retail brand. The four-day event features top players from around the world competing in tournaments for both men and women. Eight women’s teams face off on Thursday in a round-robin style match series with returning champs Cecelia Cochran and Alicia Harden defending their title against players like Pamela Flanagan, Cristina Hosmer, Tiffany Busch, Stephanie Kraml-Suttle and Lynn O’Connor, among others, who are all expected to play.

The men’s tournament will take place Friday through Sunday with six teams that include some of the world’s top-ranked players like England’s Jamie Morrison, Holland’s Vincent Mesker, past Miami Beach and Chicago Beach Polo winner, Guille Usandizaga, Luis Escobar, 2009 MVP John Gobin and 9-goaler Kris Kampsen facing off on the sands behind the Setai Hotel.

As always, the actual tournaments will be but a fun distraction from the packed itinerary of VIP events and festivities taking over in the evenings. An evening fashion show by La Martina in the VIP tent on Saturday night will be televised on E! Entertainment Latin America with Miami favorite DJ Irie spinning for the exclusive crowd. His Irie Foundation will be an official beneficiary non-profit organization along with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Miami.
