What does a luxury brand do once it has mastered the art of travel and fashion? Well, it only makes perfect scents to delve into the world of fragrance. Yes, over in the Louis Vuitton stores in the Miami Design District and Aventura Mall, there is a new sentiment — an aroma, to precise — wafting through the air.
This September, the French maison is re-entering the beauty realm with Les Parfums Louis Vuitton — a special collection of multiple unique scents ($240 for a 100 ml bottle, and $350 for 200 ml). Straight from Grasse, France — the birthplace of of both perfume and leatherwork— their exclusive in-house perfumer, Jacques Cavallier Belletrud, expertly developed these scents. A gander at the bottle tells a sophisticated story. Design star Marc Newson created rounded glass flask, pared-down stopper caps and neat black type.
Seven intensely feminine perfumes are in the heady mix. Named Rose de Vents, Turbulences, Dans la Peau, Apogée, Contre Moi, Matière Noire and Mille Feux, the septuple of scents share a common essence: To transport its wearer to a faraway, aromatic place. Grasse, France to be exact— which happens to be peppered with fields of roses, bushes of jasmine and flowering tuberose.
And much like the brand’s coveted steamer trunks, either parfum will embark its wearer on a bon voyage.
