Craft beer is gaining in popularity with many local breweries popping up around South Florida. Whether you like beer or not, GastroWars wants to change how you view craft beer by pairing the layers of flavors with culinary creativity. The goal is to introduce the palette of non-beer drinkers and expand the palette of craft beer drinkers with the culinary pairings.

Presented by Timeline Brewery and BLCK•BEER, GastroWars features two local celebrity chefs battling it out in a ‘Knife-Fight’ style competition. The chefs receive a mystery basket that includes one mystery protein and a vegetable. There is no rule on the type of dish that the chefs are to prepare except that one of the dishes must include a craft beer provided by local brewery, Funky Buddha Brewing. Local celebrities and tastemakers will serve as judges and will decide who gets bragging rights for GastroWars. One confirmed judge is Charles Johnson, ex MLB player of the World Series Champions Florida Marlins and creator of Catch This BBQ sauce.

The winner of this first round of GastroWars will be invited back for the second round challenge. Ultimately, the finalists will battle it out for a chef competition against Chef Marc Bynum, a three-time champion of the show Chopped and proprietor of Hush Bistro; Jamie Pesaque, founder of SuViche, and Michelin Chef.

The evening features a five course pre-fixe menu with five craft beer pairings from Funky Buddha Brewery. DJ Self Born will provide the entertainment and keep the party going. Tickets are $40 for general admission and $60 for VIP, which also includes gastro-bites from the competing chefs. To purchase tickets, visit http://gastrowars.eventbrite.com.
