What do you get when you blend fashion and music? FUNKSHION... that’s what!

Located at  The Setai Miami Beach (2001 Collins Avenue) and Paris Theater (550 Washington Avenue) from November 4th to 7th 2015, the event brings the Magic City an innovative platform for progressive, established and emerging designers to showcase their collections to media, celebrities, international buyers and select style makers.

For those of you not in the know, FUNKSHION is Miami’s longest running fashion week and is returning for its 12th year. The downlow? Both established and up-and-coming designers will takeover the catwalks on SoBe.

Highlights of the four-day program includes: SUNO, the 2013 Winner of the CFDA’s Swarovski Award for Womenswear, will host a pop-up and show with Co-Founder and Creative Director Erin Beatty; during Celebration of Hope event Fashion Group International of South Florida will honor philanthropist and Planet Hope Co-founder Kelly Stone; Kelly’s sister and Planet Hope Co-Founder, Golden Globe winner Sharon Stone will present. The Fashion Group International will also honor Miami designer Rene Ruiz who will show a 20-year retrospective of his work.

Miami International University of Art and Design fashion students are getting a piece of  the action as well. On Thursday, Nov. 5th, the students will showcase their one-of-a-kind designs from McDonald’s packaging (yep, you read that right). From fry box frocks to coffee cup couture and ready-to-wear wrappers, this unique McDCouture Fashion Show will be part of The Fashion Group International of South Florida Awards night that will feature a special tribute to local Miami designer Rene Ruiz, an alumnus of the school. This invitation-only event takes place at The Setai and we’re lovin’ it (pun intended).

A fashion first is in the works, too. FUNKSHION will partner with Argentina Fashion Week (ARFW) to showcase new and notable South American designers like Javier Saiach and local Wynwood-based label Style Mafia will present for the third consecutive year.
