It’s gotta be hell getting through airport security as a sadomasochistic hobbyist. There are going to be questions to answer when the scanner picks up on your spiked collar with attached nipple clamps.

Despite the security hurdle, more than 2,000 fetish enthusiasts will make it to this year’s Fetish Weekend in Fort Lauderdale, for three days of drinking, dancing, flogging and other fetish play. Started fifteen years ago by local kink purveyor Fetish Factory, the Weekend has steadily evolved to include two host hotels (one fully-booked and the other nearly there), three huge fetish parties, a pervy pool party, and even Fetish School for the uninitiated.

It’s not an event for the casual club hopper. The dress code is ultra strict—partygoers have to be decked out in gear that qualifies them for a world where a bull whip is a standard accessory. Think pricey latex catsuits, sensory-depriving face hoods, and accessories that make your crotch look like it’s in jail. Attendees who don’t meet this standard will be turned away as what the fetish community calls “vanilla” outsiders, left to go home and play Scrabble.

Here’s a roundup of the weekend’s events, which vary in their level of intensity, from delightfully raunchy to hardcore beatdown status. A pass for all of them can be purchased online for $110.

Beat & Greet Fetish Party
at Sea Monster Nightclub, 10 p.m. to 4 a.m.
There will be no Sharpies and “Hello, my name is” tags at this kickoff party, hosted at the same location as Fetish Factory’s monthly Alter Ego party. It’s a full-scale fetish event, with presentations by top performers in the community. More than 800 are expected to attend.
Tickets: $15 in advance at Fetish Factory, $20 online, $25 at the door

Sea Monster is located at 2 S. New River Drive West in Downtown Fort Lauderdale.

Lifestyle Alternatives Centre’s Fetish School at The Sheraton’s Empire Ballroom, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Corporal punishment is encouraged at this school, a day-long series of presentations by pros from varying categories of the fetish world. Curious students can learn what dormant desires lay inside them, then put them into practice at interactive “Sinsation Stations” featuring flogging, erotic clamping, rope binding and more.
All-day pass: $25 in advance at Fetish Factory, $30 online, $30 at the door
The Sheraton is located at 1825 Griffin Road in Dania.

Fetish Factory 15-year Anniversary Fetish Ball at Exit 66 Nightclub, 10 p.m. to 4 a.m
This is the crown jewel on the ball gag harness, the event of the weekend, where thousands of fetishists will transform a mainstream club into kink headquarters. Toys, costuming and fetish performances are a big part of the spectacle, while a lineup of DJs will keep the deviant energy flowing.
Tickets: $30 in advance at Fetish Factory, $35 online, $40 at the door
Exit 66 is located at 219 S. Fort Lauderdale Beach Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale.

Pervy Pool Party
at The Sheraton, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Fetish Weekend hotel guests and members of the local fetish community, hungover from libations and perversions, will gather to recharge poolside under the sun. And yes, many will be wearing rubber corsets.
Tickets: $15 in advance at Fetish Factory, $15 online, $20 if available at the pool
The Sheraton is located at 1825 Griffin Road in Dania.

Extreme Players Party at Solid Gold, 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.
Most Fetish Weekend happenings fall into the “glam-fetish” category—hot people in exquisite, intricate fetish wear, partaking in a sexually-charged club party. Then there are the extreme players, who take it to the next level and beyond. This crowd is why safe words were invented. This darker, hardcore party is the most intense of the weekend, designed for the BDSM exhibitionist crowd and anyone who likes to watch.
Tickets: $25 in advance at Fetish Factory, $30 online, $35 at the door
Solid Gold is located at 3339 N. Federal Hwy. in Fort Lauderdale.

Fetish Factory is located at 855 E. Oakland Park Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale. Phone: 954-563-5777.
