The Trump National Doral Resort has barely buffed the stiletto scuffs from its marble floors after waving goodbye to the legions of Miss Universe contestants and now its playing host to another high-profile event — the PGA World Golf Championships-Cadillac Championship. Tiger Woods won’t be teeing off — he’s taking a break to reinvent his swing or something — but Rory McIlroy, Phil Mickelson, Rickie Fowler, Bubba Watson, Sergio Garcia, Ernie Els, Adam Scott and Jordan Spieth will take on the newly remodeled Blue Monster course. As with any other event that brings together high profile athletes, big budget corporate sponsors, international media and The Donald, the event has mushroomed from a golf tournament into a chance to see and be seen with events like a fashion show, a concert, a model search, exclusive lounges and more. Here are the top five ways to get in on the action, short of being a caddy.
1. Cadillac Experience Double Decker
General admission fans can gather at this two-story facility that will house an interactive Cadillac-themed performance center on the first floor and an open-air fan area on the second deck. The first floor is filled with activities aplenty for everyone from golf aficionados to novices with a golf simulator, swing analysis from PGA pros, fittings for equipment and short-game lessons from putting masters. The second floor is for alcohol aficionados and novices, boasting a wine bar and a vodka bar and a perfect perch for catching some of the action. The Cadillac Experience Double Deck is located between the 18th Tee and First Fairway.
2. Model Search
Miami is replete with lovely ladies, a handful of which will parade down the catwalk at the Cadillac Nights Trump Model Search, the winner taking away a one-year contract with Trump Models, a trip to New York for photos, a meet and greet with Ivanka Trump, a seat at the Cadillac Nights Fashion show and other goodies. The requirements are to be 15-22 years old, taller than 5’9” and drop dead gorgeous, obviously.
4-6 p.m. Thursday, March 5.
3. Dolce & Gabbana fashion show
While golfers tend to wear your basic khakis and polo shirts on the green, Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka will host the Cadillac Nights Fashion Experience, a fashion show featuring the latest designs by Dolce & Gabbana, to add a little glamour and spectacle to the event. Be prepared to feast your eyes upon the reigning Miss Universe, Paulina Ballesteros, and expect an appearance by Real Housewives of New York star Kirsten Taekman among other celebrity attendees. Miami’s favorite mixmaster, DJ Irie will be in charge of the music.
8-10 p.m. Thursday, March 5. Additional tickets required.
4. Cadillac Miami Nights Live
After the third round on Saturday, the White Course will transform into a stage featuring some of the hottest Latin acts with guitar hero and multi-Platinum selling artist Santana as headliner, Venezuelan funk outfit Amigos Invisibles and up-and-coming Cuban reggaeton crew Gente de Zona bringing a musical jam session after a tense day on the course.
6 p.m. Saturday, March 7. Additional tickets required.
5. Social Media Zone
A ringing cellphone on the green is obviously a major faux pas, so calls can only be made and received in designated areas throughout the course. For those who are shamelessly addicted to their smart phones, let your social media obsession run wild at the Social Media Zone, located between between the 18th Tee and First Fairway in the Fan Village and you could win prizes and get drink specials. Relax on lounge seating while watching the action on big screen TVs, take photos, check in on Facebook and try your luck at getting upgraded to one of the hospitality areas like the Grey Goose Lounge, the Escalade Lounge or the Trump National Doral clubhouse.
