BRA Day VideoSync Class

Grab your girlfriends and get ready to work out for a cause! On Wednesday, October 17th, Miami Plastic Surgery and Body & Soul invite you to dance for awareness at the 1st Annual BRA Day VideoSync Fundraiser.  The high energy, fitness dance class will allow participants to shake and move in support of Breast Reconstruction Awareness. The VideoSync Fundraiser will take place at Body & Soul, located at 3183 SW 38th Court in Coral Gables at 6:30 pm.

Breast Reconstruction Awareness (BRA) Day is an initiative designed to promote education, awareness and access regarding post-mastectomy breast reconstruction. BRA Day was first launched in 2011 in Canada and now will occur annually on the third Wednesday of October. “In the United States, only 30 percent of women know that breast reconstruction is an option and less than 20% undergo breast reconstruction after a mastectomy,” Dr. Johnny Franco of Miami Plastic Surgery says. He adds, “The purpose of BRA Day is to let women know that they have options, both at the time of their cancer removal or years later.”

Dr. Franco, who specializes in breast reconstruction, will be on hand at the event to discuss the various reconstruction procedures available for post-mastectomy patients, health insurance coverage and the differences between immediate and delayed post-mastectomy surgery.  Admission for the BRA Day VideoSync Fundraiser is $20. The event, which is also sponsored by Sientra, a national breast implant manufacturer, will also feature pink treats, raffle prizes, giveaways and more.

To register, please call (305) 441-2348 or for more information on the event and breast reconstruction, visit

Adds VideoSync creator, Jay Marcos, “Post breast cancer reconstruction is about helping women restore a positive self-image, which is something I try to instill in my classes every day. If even, for just one hour, I can help women feel better about themselves, I know I’ve done my job.”
