Former Miami Beach commish Alex Daoud‘s new book, Sins of South Beach: The Story of Corruption, Violence and the Making of Miami Beach, is a true story about the transformation of South Beach from seedy to sensational, and all the dirty deeds done along the way. Now, however, the Lebanese local is content grubbing on some Schnitzel Haus.

Favorite Miami icon: Raul Martinez, because he’s a winner.

Best quintessential "Miami" story: I’d have to tell it in person.
