The Scholl Lecture Series at the Pérez Art Museum Miami will host New York artist Gary Simmons as he discusses the new large-scale mural he created for PAMM’s Project Gallery to explore the racially charged history of boxing with curator Rene Morales. Anti-gala in Wynwood

The Centro Mater Foundation presents a decidedly laidback “anti-gala” in support of its efforts to provide quality care and education to economically disadvantaged children in South Florida. “Urban MATERs” is an evening of urban art, music, food trucks, and entertainment at MAPS Backlot in Wynwood, 342 NW 24th St., Miami, Friday, Nov. 14 at 8 p.m. Guests are encouraged to dress casually. Proceeds will help the non-profit’s summer program, which serves 800 at-risk kids every year. Tickets are $100 and $75 for Future Matters members.
