Art Encounters in North Miami

Arts Encounters visits North Miami Sunday, June 1 for a guided tour of Kenyan artist Wangechi Mutu’s collages, videos and installations in “A Fantastic Journey,” her current exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) starting at 11 a.m. After lunch, the group will also explore Bridge Red Studios, a nearby arts complex where Kristen Thiele will share her painting studio and the project space her family co-curates for a viewing of the show “mi-no” and a discussion with featured artist Kerry Phillips. William Cordova at MOAD

Peruvian artist William Cordova presents his latest project in the final exhibition of swing/SPACE/miami’s first season at Miami Dade College Museum of Art + Design (MOAD) in the Freedom Tower, 600 Biscayne Blvd., Miami. “Ceiba: Reconsidering Ephemeral Spaces” investigates past and present moments that may not seem relevant but are indeed related to the collective human experience. Exhibition runs through July 12 and is free and open to the public. MOAD hours are noon – 5 p.m. Wednesday – Sunday and noon – 8 p.m. First Fridays. or 305-237-7722.

Miami to Buenos Aires

Miami-based Argentinian artist Agustina Woodgate opened a site-specific interactive work, “GPS/Poetic Social Geometry,” at the Faena Arts Center, a historic flour mill-turned-arts center in Buenos Aires. Her debut solo exhibition in her birthplace stages environments within the FAC as well as direct interventions into the city and its residents through public projects, including a version of “Hopscotch” with 1,692 hand-painted squares (similar to her 2013 project surrounding the perimeter of the Bass Museum of Art in Miami Beach). On view through June 9.
