Puppet Slam

The Bakehouse Art Complex celebrates Dias de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) with “Roast of the Calacas – A Puppet Slam” Monday, Oct. 27 at 8 p.m., featuring Jim Hammond, David Goboff, president of the Puppet Guild of South Florida, and their band of comedians. The puppeteers will be joined by performance artists including Burning Man creatives, burlesque dancers, and Zombie Walk devotees for a strictly adults-only event funded by Heather Henson, Puppet Slam Network, Puppet Guild of South Florida, and the National Endowment for the Arts. FAAM Auction

Miami Art Zine is throwing a benefit party for its 9th anniversary Monday, Oct. 27 at the Miami Beach Botanical Garden, 2000 Convention Center Dr., from 6 – 9 p.m. The public is invited to enjoy a reception with entrée and dessert crepes, an art exhibit by Naomi Cormier and Sid Daniels, a dance performance by the Brigette Cormier Dance Company and live music by Cachi and his salsa jazz ensemble. Bass Art Pass

For a limited time, the Bass Museum of Art, 2100 Collins Ave., Miami Beach, is gifting the “bassartpass” for Miami Art Week to new and renewed museum members starting at the $250 level. This pass grants free entry to two of the 13 satellite fairs, while members at the $1,000 level will receive a pair of passes to Art Basel’s Vernissage, Design/Miami’s Vernissage, and the Art Basel Brunch at the Sagamore Hotel, in addition to entry to all 13 satellite fairs.
