PAMM open for Labor Day
Pérez Art Museum Miami, though not usually open on Mondays, will be open from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. on Labor Day. Admission is free for Metromover riders who arrive at the “Museum Park” platform. PAMM named Jeff Krinsky president of its board of trustees, and appointed seven new trustees to the board as well as a new docent president. Krinsky replaces Gail Meyers, who saw the museum through its opening. The new trustees are T. Christian Armstrong, Chloe Berkowitz, Manuel A. Diaz, John Fumagalli, Laura Kaplan, Daniel Koffsky and David Martin. Rosie Gordon-Wallace will serve as president of the PAMM Docent Association.
Autumn Casey at Primary
Primary Projects unveils local artist Autumn Casey’s debut solo exhibition, “Agalma,” a Greek word for offerings to the gods, with an opening reception 6 – 10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6 at 151 NE 7th St. in downtown Miami. The show features sculpture, personal objects, and a cryptic video on self-reflection, which she describes as a “gift to her audience.” On view through Oct. 24. Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation (CIFO) opens “Fleeting Imaginaries,” the 12th edition of its Grants and Commissions Program Exhibition, Friday, Sept. 5 at the CIFO Art Space with works by emerging artists: Pablo Accinelli (Argentina); Nayarí Castillo (Venezuela); Marcellvs L. (Brazil), Carlos Martiel (Cuba); Mateo Pizarro (Colombia) and Adrian Regnier (Mexico); and, mid-career artists Claudia Joskowicz (Bolivia) and Rosângela Rennó (Brazil). Also for the first time since the inception of the program, two artists whose work is included in the show will receive the Achievement Award: Teresa Burga (Peru) and Antonieta Sosa (Venezuela). ArtTour International Magazine’s (ATIM) Masters Award Ceremony is 7 – 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5 at the Nina Torres Fine Art Gallery at 1800, 1800 N. Bayshore Dr., Miami. Learn at the Bass
The Bass Museum of Art, 2100 Collins Ave., Miami Beach, kicks off its Fall Education Program (Sept. – Nov. 2014) with the weekly “Bass Babies” class on Wednesday, Sept. 3 from 10 – 11:30 a.m. Every Wednesday, children ages 2 – 4 will learn creative ways to interact with art through song, gallery activities and art making. The weekly “Portfolio Class” series starts Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 6-7 for ages 7-18 and continues every weekend through Nov. From 12:30 – 2 p.m., students will hone their skills through specialized instruction and museum exploration. Lessons are the same on both days. Registration is required.
