A Recessionista Shopping Guide

Botkier for Target Hobo in Fuchsia, $39.99.

Economic bailout plans, unemployment rates at an all-time low, sky-high gas prices, pay cuts aplenty – it’s a chic-onomical mess out there, peeps. Fashionistas are now recessionistas. Lucky for you, we’ve got the 411 on looking fabu-less on the Web and streets of South Florida.

Fashion junkies love a cheap fix and Addict is sure to give you that shopper’s high. L.A. labels such as Do&Be, Bertinni and Collective Concept are the main attraction for the store’s clientele. Dresses by Entro, Rubber Ducky and Sole Mio. Elegant flowy blouses and sexy evening tops from Trac and The Hanger are also aplenty – all under $110. Ca-ching.
Addict, 15544 Biscayne Blvd., North Miami Beach; 305-945-5323

Pinpoint anything – and we mean anything on eBay for less. Savvy shoppers can win IT handbags, Choos, bling, Chanel rings – you get the idea – on eBay. Sure, you’ve got to wait a week and pray to the Auction Gods that no one else drives up the price on your item, but heck, no one said looking good was easy.

Kore, 2925 Biscayne Blvd, Miami; 305-573-8211

Every gal loves herself some Loehmann’s (minus the scary dressing room, that is). With inventory marked at 30 to 65 percent off department store prices, who wouldn’t? Ladies adore their Back Room, where chichi labels like Theory, Marc Jacobs, Dolce & Gabbana and Diane Von Furstenberg are begging to be bought.

Nordstrom’s BP section
Yeah, the merchandise in the BP section AKA “tween floor” is teeming with adorable clothes at prices a 13 year old can afford. Be sure to hit the accessories table, too. Feel like a Homecoming Queen again in this junior’s shopping heaven.
Aventura Mall, 19507 Biscayne Blvd.; 305-356-6900; Village of Merrick Park, 4310 Ponce de Leon Blvd, Coral Gables; 786-999-1313.

Yes, one used to indulge in Target therapy for its Febreeze air fresheners, Glade Wisp flameless candles, gnome garden sculptures and other gobbledygook for the home, but the clothes at Target cannot be missed anymore. Their Go International and Design for All lines offer a dazzling array of designer duds for peanuts. Handbags by Monica Botkier, bikinis by Mossimo, blouses by Isaac Mizrahi, maternity clothes by Liz Lange and more are in store.
21265 Biscayne Blvd, Aventura; 305-933-4616; 8350 S. Dixie Hwy, Miami; 305-668-0262.

This Spanish retail chain has got it going on. Infamous for its low-priced look-alike products of popular, higher-end clothing fashions and with locations in Dadeland and Aventura Malls, Zara’s a sure fit. Que bella!
