6 places to shop till you drop in Kendall

Kendall may not be the first neighborhood that comes to mind for great shopping, but that doesn’t mean the burgeoning suburb has nothing to offer. Not only has the population in the area increased, but so have the number of shops, restaurants, and other businesses. Today, you can find quality department stores, all your favorite chains, and even the occasional chic boutique. Coupled with a number of new or revamped shopping plazas and malls, and you’ll find there’s little need to venture out of this budding mini-city.

The Palms en Town & Country

The Palms at Town & Country

Remember when Town & Country was just an isolated building with a Sears at the end of it? These days, you can barely find parking at this bustling shopping center. Best places to shop for sure are Charming Charlie (where jewelry is grouped by color – genius!), Nine West Outlet, Kohl’s, Forever 21, Lane Bryant, New York & Co., and Tilly’s. Plus you can always grab a drink at any number of bars and restaurants including World of Beer and Blue Martini.

Sole Runners

Go Run

Go Run (formerly SoleRunners) is a locally-owned running shoe shop that’s got one purpose: to get you running in the right pair of shoes. Here you’ll find a good stock of Asics, Reebok, Saucony, Nike, and more, with the added benefit of having a salesperson measure your gait (that is, to analyze how you run) in order to suggest the right shoe for you. With a slogan like We Run Miami, it’s no wonder this has become a favorite shopping spot for Kendall-dwellers and beyond.

 London Square

London Square

As West Kendall and the Hammocks have grown, so too have the shopping options, the closest quality plaza being London Square. Among the highlights of the square are Plato’s Closet (a stylish pre-worn clothing shop), Ross, Home Goods/TJ Maxx, GameStop, Party City, Famous Footware, and a Sally Beauty Supply. There’s also a ton of dining options here (Sea Siam, Five Guys, Starbucks), a gym (Orange Theory), and a few other services that will keep you feeling good during long shopping trips.

 Dirty Mistress

Dirty Mistress Boutique

If you’d told me 10 years ago there’d actually be a pin-up boutique in Kendall, I would’ve laughed. But lo and behold, there is now a lovely little shop right by the Crossings that caters to vintage loving West Kendall betties. What’s more, Dirty Mistress doesn’t just sell cute retro couture, they also specialize in pin-up photo shoots (including hair, make-up, styling, and photography)!

 Five Sisters

Five Sisters

Located inside a quiet strip mall within walking distance of the Falls is a one-of-a-kind shop that welcomes all with an open mind. The New Age-y Five Sisters features bohemian-style clothes and jewelry, metaphysical books, candles and incense, and other goodies. But this spiritual shop is more than a place to pick up a crystals and oils. It’s also your go-to for services like reiki healing, psychic readings, tarot readings, and yoga classes.

Dadeland Mall

Shopping only gets better at Dadeland Mall these days. This east Kendall fixture has undergone many changes, and today it is a prime spot to shop for all tastes and needs. Clothing, shoes, jewelry, e-cigs, shaving supplies, beauty supplies…you could spend a whole day here and not finish seeing it all. Among its many stores, you’ll definitely want to at least stop in to Steve Madden, Clinique, the Disney Store, Saks Fifth Avenue, Godiva, Vans, Mont Blanc, Cotton On, Le Macaron, The Art of Shaving, Tesla, Michael Kors, Fossil, and of course, Lush.
