When you think of the ‘burbs of Miami, one of the first places that comes to mind is Kendall. That’s probably because whenever you meet someone there’s about a 50 percent chance that’s where they’re from. While being from Kendall used to mean being forced to rely solely on walking around the then-deserted Town & Country Mall for entertainment, plenty of great places have popped up in the area within the last decade (like World of Beer in the remodeled Palms at Town and Country). Kendall is now growing to compete with everything East of the Palmetto, making it a brand new destination for hidden gems.
There is a serious dearth of quality arcades in Miami, especially for those serious about their Galaga. Cue Arcade Odyssey, a haven for lovers of both classic and modern arcade and pinball games. Here, you’ll feel right at home amongst old friends like Super Breakout and Ms. Pac-Man, while also enjoying a bevy of Japanese snacks. And while they don’t serve drinks here, you can always pre-game (a very Kendall ritual) at the Hole In The Wall Grill next door.

X-Treme Rock Climbing
Those wanting to find their inner rock climber can head into the warehouse district of West Kendall and belay themselves to some man-made structures at X-Treme Rock Climbing. Perfect for newbies and pros alike, this rock climbing gym is just the thing to work out your body and your desire to hang off the edge of a “mountain.” But if you suddenly decide you’d prefer to stay on the ground, they also offer yoga classes, free weights, and exercise machines.

Who ever thought that Kendall would actually have a tea room? This whimsical little spot is the perfect respite from your usual Miami day. Kitschy decor, scrumptious tea sandwiches and salads, plus a multitude of loose-leaf teas served on flowery china make Serendip-A-Tea quite a find for the 305, and especially Kendall. Bonus: you can rent the place out and celebrate a tea-rrific birthday on-site!

When the collective Artistic Vibes realized Kendall was in dire need of a local venue for creatives to perform, they took things into their own hands. Now it’s the ideal place to check out everything from stand-up comedy to spoken word and open-mic sessions. The place is intimate, without a bad seat in the house, making it a great place for a date night or just a night out on your own, especially if you’re in need of a lively, good time.

Tacos & Tattoos
Who doesn’t love tacos these days? Sure, the most authentic tacos are down in Homestead, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t new competition right in the heart of Kendall. Tacos and Tattoos serves dishes that are a fusion of New American, Mexican, and Caribbean cuisine, all nestled inside a warm tortilla. Aside from tacos (which might include anything from churrasco and buffalo chicken to tofu or portobello), they’re also known for tostones, burritos, and of course, their craft beer list. In effect, it’s a taste of Wynwood west of the Turnpike.
