99.9 KISS COUNTRY MUSIC FESTIVAL
If you’ve got spurs that jingle jangle jingle, strap ’em on and head for Jungle Island for this inaugural festival featuring “American Idol” fave Casey James and country singer Craig Campbell (“Keep Them Kisses Comin’”), plus line dancing, mechanical bull rides, mouth-watering BBQ and a front-row seat to the city’s fireworks show.

JAPAN: KINGDOM OF CHARACTERS
Beginning in the 1950s with Astro Boy, Japan has a long history of creating beloved cartoon characters, figures, from Pokemon to Super Mario Bros. to Tamagotchis to today’s Kawaii (“cute”) poster feline Hello Kitty. They’re all here, in a fun and interactive exhibit for the whole family.

Totally gnarly concert resurrects new wave bands The Go-Go’s (“We Got the Beat,” “Our Lips Are Sealed,” “Vacation”), The Motels (“Only the Lonely,” “Suddenly Last Summer”), Cutting Crew (“[I Just] Died in Your Arms”), Naked Eyes (“Promises, Promises,” “Always Something There to Remind Me”) and Scandal (“Goodbye to You,” “The Warrior”).
